They wanted to make an example out of him and his family.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Why should we not make an example of persistent and unrepentant law breakers?

Tell Tiny Tim, Enoch won't be home for Christmas this year.

He is taking up a place in prison by his own choice. He could leave tomorrow if he wanted to. Probably waiting til he loses his virginity.

    Update - as expected...

    Text:

Secondary school teacher Enoch Burke will remain in prison for Christmas after refusing to give an undertaking to comply with a High Court order to stay away from the school where he used to work.

Mr Burke was jailed for the second time on 9 September for breaching a High Court injunction directing him to stay away from Wilson's Hospital School in Co Westmeath.

The matter was brought back before the court this morning to see if Mr Burke was willing to purge his contempt by giving an undertaking that he would obey the order.

Lawyers for the school told the court that if Mr Burke refused to purge his contempt, they would be asking with "great reluctance" that he remain in prison.

Mr Justice Mark Sanfey rose from the bench five times due to interruptions from members of Mr Burke’s family - his mother Martina, sister Ammi, father Sean and brother Isaac - as well as Mr Burke’s refusal to stop making submissions which the judge said had nothing to do with the sole issue before the court.

Mr Burke’s submissions focused in particular on the appointment of former Attorney General Maire Whelan to the Court of Appeal, where she later ruled on his case.

The family members repeated on a number of occasion that her appointment, in 2017, "stinks to high heaven".

The judge said it was very clear Mr Burke was not prepared to purge his contempt and he saw no reason to interfere with the order that he be brought to Mountjoy.

Mr Justice Sanfey said Mr Burke was to remain in prison until he purged his contempt and he would review the matter again on 27 February.

However, he said he wanted to make it clear that Mr Burke could come to court at any time to give an undertaking that he was prepared to abide by the order.

The judge said it was regrettable that he had to rise on a number of occasions to maintain basic order in the court and that the assistance of gardaí was needed.

He said the tag team nature of the interruptions showed they had been done in an orchestrated way to cause maximum disruption.

He said that would not be tolerated, in the same way the flouting of a court order would not be tolerated.

Usual shenanigans by Burke and his family members.

He might be as mad as a bag of monkeys but he is fairly sticking to his principles.

Presumably now that there has been a degree of international exposure, latched onto by Bad Faith, "anti woke" screechers he has found a boost of confidence via his inbox. Any chance he or the family might see sense is gonna quickly evaporate by idiots on the internet cheering them on.

Wonder what odds now Elon Musk latches onto this: he already proferred his "opinion" on the Scrotes that tore up O'Connell as supposed white fury; wouldn't put it past him to suddenly champion Burke as another victim of our "woke" government.

But in behaving as he does he ensures that his "principles" are never actually discussed or addressed.

Absolutely NOTHING that has happened has anything to do with his "principles" it's all about his inability to acknowledge the existence of the courts and his employers disciplinary process.

His Principles would have been infinitely better served had he actually followed the formal complaints/dispute process available to him.

Just stand him up against a wall with a blindfold and a cigarette at this stage. The lad is not for turning.

Anyone with law expertise have any input on the likely series of events here? Taking into account the Burkes are going to continue as is.

He could easily do that from outside a jail cell

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Surely the option of criminal contempt has to be considered at stage and applied.

The money and resources this cult is sucking out of all of us to gain attention needs to end.

Regarding the appalling disruption of the court proceedings by the Burke family members, it would appear that Contempt of Court exists, but is not yet enshrined in legislation here. IANAL so maybe someone with legal expertise could clarify.

Our justice system is farcical, and the Burkes are showing this.

I think that has to be the next step.

I think they will find a pathway to converting this to a fixed term imprisonment.

His mentality almost gives me a headache. Does he think his stubbornness will eventually overpower the laws? He's literally achieving nothing and only spiting himself. This can go on for the rest of his life if he wants to keep it up.

Is it not very plausible that he would prefer to be in jail rather than at home for christmas?

“There is a conflict that relgions have with LGBTQ, that dosnt matchup with the state.”

Which is why religion should have nothing to do with the state, education, healthcare or anything of that sort.

I admire his sister for standing by him and other things

It’s highly likely he will just stay in prison until he purges his contempt. The family will keep barking at judges for as long as they want.

This could easily run for years.

Why? What part of what he has done is in anyway admiral?

The only way your view, if you could call it that, would fly is if you tells you don't believe in democracy and the rule of law and that you'd have no problem giving the rights granted to you under the constitution and the treaties of Rome. The only reason he is behind bars today is because he and his family refuses to accept that he is subject to the rule of law in this country, like everyone else. Now you can continue with all the subterfuge you want, but know this the vast majority of the people listening to you know you are talking absolute rubbish.

Regardless of his beliefs. He's wasting his life now. He just needed to except he's lost this battle, and look to fight another one.

    Not a chance.

Prior to being ejected, Enoch Burke vowed: “I will be reinstated in my classroom in accordance with the law.

Delusional doesn't even begin to come close.

But maybe he really enjoys being in prison!

As a matter of interest has he ever uttered a single word of apology for harassing the female principal of the school, the ill-mannered action that started the entire shitstorm?

    Of course not.

In his mind he has done absolutely nothing wrong and as such he has absolutely nothing to apologise for , in fact he is the one owed an apology.

Anyone that says otherwise is simply to be ignored and he pretends they don't exist.

That's the whole core of this - He believes that he is right because "God says so" and as such everything else that has happened since the start is invalid because God is on his side or something..
