He's okay. He is in town. I pray for his safe return to Clontarf.

I think it is actually a really good thing what happened in Dublin tonight.

It might get politicians and Leo and Helen thinking what they have done wrong to cause this situation.

Well if the bould Joe doesn't have the LL all about this tomorrow, I'll eat his cravat.

I predict he'll pivot to being on da frontline before the 1.46pm mark

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

One would have to seriously question the editorial policy of Liveline putting the eyewitness from the Stardust tribunal on air, practically as the events were still unfolding. She was one of the first to reference the possible nationality of the perpetrator (very pointedly omitted from all her subsequent numerous media appearances) which it would seem was a touch flame for these thugs (not that they needed much of an excuse or justification to kick off) But it does show how fractious and inflamed the general mood is abroad at the moment, that relatively little as well as off the cuff, unconsidered comments can kick things off. Meanwhile minister “I’ve nothing to do with my uncles lobbying on €12m property deal” McNamee continues to insist our streets are still safe.

It might end up with one of them getting the boot and while that wouldn't solve the myriad of problems they've allowed/created, it'd be very satisfying.

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

But Joe will say once they reach 30 they will grow out of it.

I wish he would say the same for the people coming here.

He might not make it in tomorrow. He's probably still sitting on the DART waiting for the chauffeur to open the door for him.

It's one of the main stories on Sky overnight. The only politician interviewed is Mary Lou who is described as a "seasoned leader". Micheál Martin must have put his foot through the telly if he seen it.

Well she is tbf, around a long time now. I almost ran into her as she was trailing Gerry Adams up Westland Row once, very much a double take moment!

Also, the thoughts of MM trying to put his foot through a telly has made me laugh. He reminds me of Mr Burns of Simpsons fame 😂

I was watching the NFL for thanksgiving, so did not bother watching the coverage of the irish patriots burning and looting their own city. half probably had no idea why they were there destroying stuff, the other half could not find Algeria on a map. I would guess most of them have been a financial burden to the country all their lives, and will continue to be.

painful to listen to “how could we have known anything like this could happen”. This horror fest was entirely predictable.

Are you blaming this woman for the riots that happened after?

Agreed on Helen McEntee however. She was on Morning Ireland saying there are enough Gardai on the beat in the city centre and her 10 million euro overtime brainwave was working a treat.

Joe is going to be in knots today steering clumsily through the morass that has and is happening in our country.

A couple of things stood out for me scanning over the entire day.

    1. Members of the public had to disarm the man and restrain him till police arrived. All this outside a public enquiry and hospital at the top end of the National thoroughfare. Gardaí aren’t The Flash but should have been very close by. There used to be a cop shop at the top of O’Connell St but I think it’s closed?
    2. Things didn’t just’kick off’ spontaneously I’m sure. There were 4 hours between the attack and when things got out of control.
    3. The area has been a touch point in recent times. We were all told things were in hand after those other scummers attacked the American tourist.
    4. Even the regular population are starting to have reservations about the level of migration and the range of facilities available to support the influx of new people.
    5. There have been plenty of situations over the last 18 months where animosity towards immigrants was on show.

So really I think even my 7 year old nephew might have figured that there was some trouble brewing and that if an attack occurred and things were starting to look dicey then you needed to nip that in the bud before this escalated.

I do blame the government in part the this. The majority here aren’t anti immigrant but do want a decent infrastructure in place for those arriving. I think we simply have too many and the government seem happy to dump large grips in small towns where the area isn’t really able to cope with the influx.

There seems to be no “Off” button or no gumption on the governments part to go back to the EU and say we’ve taken enough. Not even that but we don’t turn back even people who have destroyed their documents as a ruse to come here.

All of this fuels the far right and it’s easy convince those with time on their hands that “there is a war out there”.

Dole is being reformed thankfully for those who are interested in work. I’m fairly sure the concept of work is a bit alien to a lot of those youths last night. I really think that if you’re long term unemployed and not obviously benefiting from back to work schemes then you should be conscripted. It might help some if these turn there lives around. The government is paying them each week anyway. They might as well get a few jobs out of them for it.

Seems like the Gardai were caught out here. No serious planning seems to have happened and they effectively lost control of the city Center for 3 hours. It puts into perspective the recent Garda controversies over their roster and the assistant commissioner/pension controversy. Maybe spend less time worrying about your pension and roster and more time concentrating on work? I know it’s a tough job in fairness.

So, really anyone convicted of this crap should be barred from state aids like dole for a fixed period. There is money being given out for any old shîte right now without much oversight. It’s time the state grew a pair and the government grew a spine as well. I don’t think an election is going to solve any of this. It’s just rearranging deckchairs.

I don't see why everyone is talking about an election, as if its going to solve the migrant issue.

SF are currently the biggest party and they fully support the amount of immigrants coming into this country. They'd maybe even welcome more?

Funny how yesterday has spawned what will likely be a big change in political landscape. Don’t wanna vote for existing parties who all sing off same hymn sheet, don’t wanna vote far right hooliganism, I predict the birth of a new centrist party over coming month that will attract mainstream voters. Badly needed. A few will jump ship from existing parties.
