NCT Spare Wheel Question.

NCT tomorrow and noticed my rear tyre may fail due to wear. I'd say its good but will replace ASAP.

I have a spare in perfect condition.

Am I okay to change the wheel for the spare before the test? The only issue is the spare won't have the alloy on it.

Will that result in a fail?

If the tyre is exactly the same size it will pass, if not it's a fail

No point putting your spare wheel on if your going to replacing the tyres after the test anyway?

I am putting on the spare in case they fail the existing tyre.

If it fails only on the tyre... it's a visual retest for free - no need to book.

Just drive out, change the tyre down the road, then come back again and ask for a visual inspection.....no need to book......and pass the test.

But you said your changing it ASAP, why do you care about failing or not if your going to change them anyway?

If it fails I have make my way to the centre again, which is a long drive over and back. That's if I get an appointment this side of Christmas.
