Cork City council currently advertising for Clerical officer grade III

Relation of mine interested in applying. Would anyone here work for the city council or have any feedback about the council as an employer? Positives, negatives, etc.

I know the city boundaries have changed in recent times so I assume the place of work could also fall in areas such as Ballincollig, carrigaline, etc which used to be part of the county council but changed

I did and have done the online assessments a couple of weeks back, no news since...I totally messed up the mathematical one though so not holding out much hope!!

I did pretty poorly on the math assessment too, hoping the average is low enough that I get through.

The sample questions were so simple I wasn't worried about it but then I couldn't make sense of some of them and totally freaked out!! So you haven't heard back either?

Not yet. I expect not to hear until after the last day to do the assessments. Could be wrong though.

FYI - I got an email from Cork City Council yesterday inviting me to do interview next week.

I didn't think I did great in the online assessments either.

When did you do your assessment? I haven't heard anything since I did my test at the weekend. Fingers crossed i get an invitation to interview.

The map you posted is for civil service agencies so it wouldn't be for any of the places in the map. Be sure to read up on the agencies in City Council and the council its self, that's a big part of their interview process I've heard.

Did anyone else here do an interview with the city council? How did it go for you? I wasn’t prepared for the questions on the council itself so don’t think I’ll be going forward. If anyone is going for interview, they asked about where they get their funding from, how much their spending is, their services etc

Thanks for the heads up. You never know, I had a similar experience with an HSE interview recently and still got through! I still haven't heard from the city council after the assessment (I totally messed up the maths one...) so I assume I won't be called for an interview. It would be nice if they gave feedback though. Was anyone told that they were not going through the next stage?

Relation of mine hasn't heard back either since assessment and felt they did very well. They would have studied maths in college so should have been able enough. So maybe I wouldn't worry just yet. I could obviously be wrong but maybe they have still people to contact

Ya, I had an interview with them last week. Had same sort of questions about the council itself along with the competency based questions. The interview went okay, I answered most of the council questions fine and had STAR method answers prepared for the competency based questions. Haven't heard anything back yet.

Ya, got an email this morning saying i placed in the 50's in the panel. And they may contact me if a suitable position arises. Anyone know how many positions there are? Im guess it will be a good while or not at all by the time they get to people placed in the 50's.

I got placed in the 30s in the panel, I asked alright during the interview and they said they had a good few positions (no number). Also, I know of someone who works there and they said they are crying out for staff so you never know.

In basic, the functions of a local authority, the funding sources and who’s the mayor etc.
