Replayed that mission on the harder difficulty and managed it but ye same as 3rd mission as soon as you can you need to get on the lift. There's 1 warrior during the mission and then another few as the lift comes so you've to just jump in lift, it doesn't matter if any aliens are still alive or not or even if they're on the lift with you.

Were you running around or staying at the lift as you're meant to near it. The acid spitter on the platform just needs to be focused on for a bit if no one has weapons or abilities for the range.

Stayed by the lift I think. Just where the ammo crate is. The swarms kept coming but it's the warrior that's a pain.

When the lift comes in this one or the ships is ready to take off you've all to be in it, that last wave isn't to be fought.

Having a smart gun for the weaker enemies helps.

Gave Aliens Fireteam a shot last night, didnt think it was great. Does it get better?

    Seems very basic and uninspired.

Played the first mission twice with different mate which took like nearly 20min and didn't even get to level 2 with that class. Got 2 crappy looking muzzles for my trouble

Oh, they used to give a discount if you pay for a year, pity they didn't do that.

Sony's recent offerings feel like a hand shake followed by a swift boot up the hole.

First mission is longer than most as a lot of it is walking through empty halls before your know the place is infested. I've finished it there and think it does get better but it's still a left for dead / horde game so it's not that complex. Harder difficulties are really hard, and it's about coordinating to hold lines and hot get overwhelmed.

A lot of times you've to run to objective as you're not meant to kill everything, so if it's giving you an objective do that rather than try to finish off enemies. You need all players at the objectives in some cases and for finishing the mission and if someone is behind the others can get killed waiting.

The class levels don't matter too much for new players as when you level up they unlock space on a grid to fill with perks but you've not got a lot of perks at the start unlocked so you've not got much to fill. Perks can be unlocked and some used between classes.

There's only really 7 levels but you don't get something on every level, so levelling up isn't an even progression, you might level up and it'll do you little good.

There's a drop for finishing a mission and a hidden cache in the missions to find that moves but per mission that's all there is to pick up. You've to buy the rest with the money earned and that can be boosted a lot with challenge cards. You might only have 2 loadouts per class. The muzzles have some of the better weapons perks so getting those isn't bad.

So you only "save" when upgrading but no deals for premium or other tiers renewing for the same tier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,662 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

So I'm on the top tier giving them the most money, but I can go fúck myself!

    Typical Sony attitude really! 😆

When I go to the PS store I'm given the option to upgrade to extra or premium for the amount of days I have left on my essential sub. Does that mean the 25% discount for Extra would only apply to the remaining days of my essential sub?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,375 ✭✭✭jj880

Thats what Im getting in the mobile app. Upgrade discount available for days left on current sub then renew at full price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,615 ✭✭✭Revoker88

So I guess you would have to buy another year of essential and then upgrade

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,375 ✭✭✭jj880

Looks that way. It's a good deal if you were thinking of upgrading anyway.

If you buy another years essential could you then only be presented with the upgrade discount on whats left before the next year starts?

I suppose you will then still have the essential sub anyway.

Very unlikely but Sony are really acting the maggot at the moment.

Teardown is out tomorrow and is day one on PS Plus Extra. Let Owen Wilson's soothing voice tell you all about it.

Looking on the PS store it would be €72 to stack a year on top of what I have, current sub runs out 01/01/2024, so I'd have circa 410 days to upgrade to Extra at the 25% reduction which would mean it would be around €120 to buy essential for another year and upgrade to extra for 410 days for me

Oh, will that be midnight our time for Teardown? I was only looking at it last night, wondering when it was coming out. Still showing as "Announced" for me.

FFS Sony, it really feels like they're going to devs and saying "what can I get for 3.50????"

Teardown looks fun and Klonoa is a good old style platformer. The rest really are bargain bin stuff tho

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,395 ✭✭✭nullObjects

That's one of the most disappointing lineups I've seen

I remember this ad for Dead Island when it came out and thought it was top class. Did the game live up to it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,304 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I absolutely loved that trailer and I loved Dead island. I never played Riptide but Dying Light made the DI games feel ancient going back to them. I might give Riptide a go if i have absolutely nothing else to play some day. I'm looking forward to playing Teardown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,050 ✭✭✭✭L'prof

Oh it’s different to the original? I though it might have been some later release of the same game with additional content

Edit: I see the definitive edition of DI is included on plus. I might give it a go

I'll work off the pretence that this is a quiet enough month before they announce the big December games for Christmas. 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,522 ✭✭✭RedXIV

To be fair, I just watched that trailer and it is incredibly good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,756 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

Dead Island and DI Riptide I absolutely loved, just a huge amount of zombie bashing fun and some of the weapon builds are outrageous. Probably looks a wee bit dated now but still immensely enjoyable.

Ah Dragon's Dogma isn't bargain bin stuff, not by a long shot - it's one of the best action RPGs there is imo. Sequel is due out next year I think too.

Dead Island gave me chronic headaches after about 10 minutes of playing it so I never went back to it.

One of the Wolfenstein games was the same so I've never managed to play either.
