Tripping the board

    I have a dishwasher and washing machine connected to the same double socket for a number of years that have worked fine up to now.

    In the last week or so they have been tripping the fuse board and we can't figure out why. I had a professional look at the machines a d they are both in perfect condition.

    I was wondering if it could be the fuse in the plug of each machine. They both have a 3amp fuse so should I bring them up to a 13amp fuse


    Any and all help welcome.

    Doubt very much they could be 3amp fuses on those , they would blow in use

    Try each in turn and see which one is tripping and try each in both sockets, then plug each machine in a different socket and see if they still trip, if they do it's the machine if they don't it's the socket.

    Like Kirk says, we need to know if it's an RCD, MCB or a device called and RCBO that's tripping. That will tell us what type of overload/short/leak you have.

    It's the socket switch and the master switch.

    I diiscovered the Samsung washing machine had a 3amp fuse that was burnt out on one end . Changed it to a 13amp and it seems to be working fine now.

    Only time will tell

    If you mean MCB and RCD trip together .That can be a short-circuit to earth causing that

    Put up a pic showing whats tripping

    That plug might give more trouble later if there's already heat damage to it , no idea why there would be a 3amp fuse fitted

    3amp fuses are used for appliances up to 700w these days

    We changed the plug fuse on the washing machine from 3amp to 13amp and it all seems to be working OK for now.

    I will say.....its the most expensive fuse I have ever had to replace.

    Could be loose connection behind the socket or even at the fuseboard, You really need an electrician to complete a periodic inspection test (PIR) on the house electrics and particularly that socket circuit. Also a Portable Appliance Test should be done on the two appliances.

    Op didn't even confirm what's tripping .
