    Hi there.

For me I had my medical complete and knew I passed it on the day.then I done my interview September time from memory and then got a phone call about 4 weeks later to offer me a position on a class starting just over 3 weeks after. But some people who got interviewed same time as me are still waiting so depends on your depot etc but the longer it takes to hear something the better it is in my opinion

    It’s all separate.

I had my medical before my line manager interview. Seems to depend on availability?

I think that if you’ve had your line manager interview and then get called for a medical it probably means you were successful in the interview..? Maybe? 🤔

I was told i should hear in about 3 weeks on the outcome of the interview.

I just hope that I get the yes or no from the interview stage 1st, instead of needing to complete the medical and then get told I didn’t meet the requirements of scoring enough marks at the interview.

Overall it’s been a massive experience for me personally, from the initial online assessment to the line manager interview.

Agree with you thoroughly, it's been a great experience. I'm waiting about 7 weeks now since my line manager interview to hear anything. They told me 3 weeks as well.

I applied for Dublin, where have you applied for?

    Applied for Cork.

At the previous online interview about the 16pf I was told I should hear back in 2 weeks, took 2 months 😀, so I won’t be one bit surprised if it’s after Christmas before I hear back.

The girl from HR said no news is good news so hopefully if you’re waiting 7 weeks then you were successful.

    Fingers crossed 🤞

Best of luck with it, hope you hear about the medical soon.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I applied for cork, had my medical a week before my final interview, final interview was about 2 months ago now and havent heard anything still so just hoping its a case of being on a waiting list , hopefully wont be waiting too much longer to hear.

    Hi!

Just wondering if anyone has made it as far as the medical, been referred back to your GP about something relatively minor, and still been offered a job/spot on a panel? Am I out?

A couple people I know have had to get follow up letters from GP or hospital about stuff, and got through.

    Hi,

Has anyone heard back since completing online assessment for station operative?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 BuzzyBee303

Thanks so much! I was starting to get paranoid about it. Overthinking etc.

I emailed the and they replied that they have not got a time frame to which they will be inviting to the nxt stage

Do trainees from well outside Dublin, down the country e.g., that have to attend training school in inchicore where it's not possible to travel up and back daily, is there an accommodation setup for them or would they have to source their own? Sourcing and maintaining accommodation might not be viable for some successful applicants. Shame to go through all the stages successfully and then find you can't attend because of rental availability or rental costs reasons.

There are two school locations, Mallow and Inchicore. If you are close you can commute (or if it's in your county you have to commute) otherwise they will pay for hotel and food. There is no need to worry about the 'training' living arrangements whatsoever.

If training is in inchicore. You'll be put up in a hotel, breakfast lunch and dinner will be provided too. Normally its the aisling hotel, which is a 2 minute walk from hueston station, can get luas to inchicore then. Will be no problem with accommodation anyway, and will be fed like a king. Most trainee drivers put on a stone during training. Buffet breakfast in the hotel.Carvery lunch.3 course dinner in the hotel every evening. Accommodation will be paid for Mon Tue Wed Thu night, so you'll make your way to Dublin Monday morning, and head home then Friday soon as the training finishes for the day. Normally around 12 / 1pm on a Friday.

That's great to know, thanks for the info. I'm waiting to hear back from my Line Manager Interview. I don't think it went great but I'm still hoping. I would love to know more about the training part of it. What time do they start classes on a Monday morning, and is the training difficult/stressful?

I would be leaving the family for the week so it's good to know accommodation and food are sorted. Is there a reduced fare for the train journeys to and from Dublin as I'll be travelling. Loads of questions and thanks for any info.

Training is around 9am - 4pm Mon to Thu and 9am - 1pm Fri.. Accommodation Food And Trains will be paid for. Won't have to spend a cent if you don't want to. Most groups would have a few pints Most nights, or eat somewhere different once a week just to change things up, but entirely upto yourself. Accommodation Food and Trains will all be taken care of anyway.! If your in the minster area, train from Cork Mallow Lj Thurles gets into Hueston at 08.20, you'd be in Inchicore for 08.50, quick coffee in the canteen, laughing

Sounds like a right old party.

Nothing wrong with 2 or 3 quite pints after dinner lads. Isn't like your going to get legless and be out until all hours. Anyway like I said accommodation and food will be taken care of. Best of luck , great career.

Have you discussed these thoughts with the CMO or your DTE? 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56 ✭✭Gammyeye

Thank you @[Deleted User] for the info. It's great to hear some of the lesser known things. How is the training itself? Much study required in the evenings or is it just classroom based?

I completely get that the general rule (used lightly of course) is that no news is good news in regards to waiting for interview and medical results.

Can the same be said about waiting for the online SCAAT, RAAT and SJT results from the OPC?

I completed mine on Friday the 27th of October and haven't heard back yet (which I'm fine with). I saw a person on IÉs Facebook page saying he received a fail email last Friday (the 3rd of November), given the fact that applications opened the previous Monday my guesstimate is that they completed theirs Tuesday or Wednesday ish. Since I completed mine the Friday I'm 2-3 days ahead of them so I assumed (which I shouldn't) that i'd know by Monday or Tuesday. Do you think people that got a hard fail find out very quickly and people that did a bit better get told how they fared a bit later on? I'd imagine their system pools all the semi good results together and takes an average of those results, then sifts people out from the bottom up. This is all speculation bare in mind and I'm sure that's quite apparent.

It is an unnecessary question I suppose but I'm curious since as opposed to feeling more anxious, im feeling less anxious as time progresses. I hope this doesn't come across as arrogant as I know I'm digging a little too deep here.

Secondly, how many people do you lads and ladies think make it to the in house assessment with IÉ, I'm thinking about the logistics of assessing people. I don't imagine they can assess thousands of people in a few short weeks. What does the attrition rate actually feel like. I imagine the same for the interviews. I apologize in advance if all this has been already been asked a billion times but there's too many pages at this point 😂. I'm just wondering if anyone is thinking the same as me right now and if so does my speculation seem plausible in any way, shape or form.

Applied for Driver Role in Dublin. I want to drive the ICR more than any other traction they have but I'll take anything. Based near Carlow but intend to move ASAP if I survive and Dublin is my closest.

    Thanks in advance everyone.

    Edit: Spelling.

    @Alpha1-1Cretty

I completed mine on Thursday 26th October ( online SCAAT, RAAT and SJT ) and still haven't heard anything back yet.. So in and around your time line.

It was hard to judge how I done as I was timed out on the first 2, but completed the 3ed within time..

Checking email every day, to make sure I don't miss an email from them..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 50 ✭✭Alpha1-1Cretty

*I clicked reply but it didn't tag you automatically like I expected it to @duefrine. Im new to boards so.

Tis nerve wracking to be fair. You're not alone. I timed out on the last RAAT question of the last page. I got the other 2 or 3 (can't remember how many I know there was 3 on the practice material) questions on that page. I'm afraid that the whole page can be omitted since I didn't do the last question on it.

The SJT was fine for me and I know id make all the same decisions again. (I prioritised safety and the company over personal life etc. and I trust my judgement and decision making.) Had some time left on that one but should've used that time to recheck everything.

On SCAAT I emphasized accuracy as advised by a driver I bumped into on Facebook but I did get a good few lines done. Got 5 ish omissions on the hardest page. None that I'm aware of on the first 2 pages. I don't think you can complete SCAAT. I imagine it generates infinite columns as needed or it already has a ridiculous amount for columns built in.

I've been checking 3 times ish a day. It's scary but I know I can give it another go next year atleast.

Hopefully we'll be in the classroom in no time if all goes well. *Blesses self* I'm 22 and part of me is not expecting to see many peers in here if I do manage to survive this lol. I stand to be proven wrong.

Anyway I appreciate the reply. A problem shared is a problem halved.

@Alpha1-1Cretty @duefrine Buckle up lads and get ready to wait. 🤣

I applied in January, did online assessments at the end of January and heard nothing until June. Did in person assessments, and one interview and a medical between July and October and I am still waiting to be invited to my final interview. Irish Rail does not move fast but I’ve been assured that it’s worth it in the end.

    @slowclap

I find your response a little reassuring if I'm honest. I don't mind whatsoever. I'm just trying to gather some opinions to see if it's a case of "if you didn't survive this round you'd know already" lol.

I'll wait as long as it takes tbh

    Thanks for the response!
