A lot has happened since that. The Israelis admitting to bombing a children's hospital, a school and a fishing port just in the last 24 hours. Absolutely horrific and deplorable. Anyone trying to defend this level of carnage needs to look at themselves

The NYT, Channel 4 News and others have disputed Israeli claims that the rocket that struck the hospital came from Gaza. It may not have been a direct IDF strike but many suspect it was part of an Iron Dome rocket or such.

Let's play a word game. You can switch one word that will change all the following statements from absurd to real.

1. It is illegal to boycott NORWAY in 37 US states. It is legal to boycott American products and products from any other county on the planet in those same 37 states.
2. In 37 US states if you successfully tender for a public service contract you must sign a pledge never to boycott NORWAY.
3. France is currently proposing a law to make it illegal and punishable by up to 2 years in prison if you criticse NORWAY.
4. The US government is ignoring its own 1st amendment to make it illegal to critise NORWAY on college campuses.
5. The US is proposing stopping any funding to educational facilities that allow marches or demonstartions against NORWAY.
6. The UK home secretary has said any marches critising NORWAY for bombing innocent civilians is a "hate" march
7. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are blocking or demonitising posters who critise NORWAY.

You can substitue Norway with any of the other 194 countries on earth except one and all those statements are false.

Hamas leadership millionaires and billionaires who a live a life of luxury in safe foreign countries

The Al Qassam brigades might think that way, but it's fairly clear the Hamas political leadership don't think that way. They are into self preservation, why else are they living a cushy life abroad in exile ? If you really want a long term solution you need to address the elephant in the room:Qatar. America should be putting pressure on Qatar to deal with the political leadership or give Mossad the green light to. We might perhaps see compromises then, but the reality is none of this will happen. The best we can hope for is Hamas in Gaza to be exiled abroad and a centerist or left wing Government to take hole in Israel, as well as a more moderate Government in Gaza-but with the amount of hate festering there now that is a tall order indeed. I know you, Danzy and others are not fond of anything left wing so you will be reluctant to admit that would be a good outcome,so try to make an exception this time.

War crimes just keep on building up. Probably full of terrorists praying no doubt.

I wonder what the response would be if one of my family came to Ireland and kicked a family off their land/out of their home because my ancestors owned that land a couple of hundred years ago.

I take your point. But what I find troubling is the lack of criticism of Hamas from so many Palestinian supporters. After all those who denounced Hamas after the events of October 7 were often criticised for not denouncing the Israeli policies whihc caused so much of the problem.

If supposters of Palestinian rights and Palestinian flag-bearers could put clear distance between themselves and Hamas, it would help the Palestinian cause a lot in Eurpe and Nrth America.
