He probably knew how they were going to play, but not how well they were going to play. England and the conditions made it a kicking game so made the call early to switch. Ruthless but the correct call.

Robertson will have some kind of job. Taking over from the 'worst coach NZ have ever had' who won the 'most competitive world cup in history'.

Typical Irish response. Remember in 1972 Ireland were on for a Grand Slam and they didn't get it because Wales and Scotland refused to come to Dublin because of the troubles. Wales have been a horrible team to us look at it when we were going for the 2009 Slam they did everything in their power to make sure Ireland couldn't make History. A horrible team that I always enjoy seeing getting beat. Scotland are no better and showee their colours in this WC. They deserve a few more wooden spoons so that we can all beat them with.

The one thing England ever did wrong was in 2003 when they were going for the Slam and Johnston decided to line out in the wrong side but this was actually brilliant as it gave England the mental edge over Ireland and Ireland reacted. If Ireland were mentally strong back then they should have just lined up on the other side and play them at their own game. Ireland too focused on this and got hammered then in the actual game. England had failed on few attempts to win the GS but this was a genius strategy to get over the line. Ireland never had this close to the edge mentality when it really mattered in games. That's the truth and the truth hurts.

I think there should be big questions asked of Rassie. They just about squeaked over the line so he’ll avoid it, but that was definitely not a masterclass.

Why repeatedly kick high to Steward? He’s world class at that single aspect of the game. It gave England an easy in to the game. If you want to play a tactical kicking game, why not start Pollard? Why not target Daly? Why not alter your starting 15 6 days after that incredibly high intensity game with France?

For a man who was happy to throw out the line that certain teams had clocked up too many minutes, he made the exact same error and was lucky to get away with it. On another note, how much does Mbonambi have left in the tank? Reckon next week could be a game too far for him.

I can’t see beyond a NZ win next week unless he changes up his team and gets some fresh legs and minds out there. Will Libbock make the 23? You wonder how his confidence is after that. Expect Pollard will start at 10. Might see LeRoux come in at 15, Wilhemse to the bench covering 10 with someone like Am or Moodie getting the 23 shirt.

Yeah Ireland were never mentally strong enough to win a grand slam since 2003...

    you tell them!!

The truth hurts guys, get over it!!!

Genuinely not sure who will win this thing.

Very much depends on which SA team shows up. If the same SA team that started and played most of that game last night, turn up, NZ will be out of sight unlike England were able to do. If the one that turned up to play France arrive then we are in for a great final.

Ireland don't have it in games that matter?

A drop goal after 41 phases of play and the clock red in Paris.

Winning the slam at Twickenham on Patrick's weekend.

Do people actually read back over what they post!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,371 ✭✭✭✭bilston

Agree with this. Although SA have the advantage of having incredible depth in their pack replacements which takes the edge of a bit.

But thinking back to 2019 I thought this was a factor in the final as well. SA got to the final after beating Japan and Wales in the knockouts where as England had to play Australia (I think) and NZ, was it therefore really a surprise that SA pulled away a bit in the final 20 minutes of that match.

With that in mind it's definitely advantage NZ in my opinion.

Ah yes. Predictable analysis from some folks when we do really well. Explain our win with excuses

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,137 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Overall I thought England were bit better and stronger, but to only score 3 points in the second half, SA probably deserving winners. They got their try

    My predictions so far :

South Africa not to score in the last 20 minutes yesterday.

PP northern hemisphere treble in the quarter final.

    Oh well.

As for the final I believe.... 😁😁😁

“O’Keeffe is going to be the talking point as he’s won them the game - not South Africa,” said Dallaglio on ITV

Everytime this guy opens his mouth.

I just want to say that Ox Nché is the most underrated player in rugby. His performances too often get lumped in together with the overall impact of the bomb squad, when in reality his destructive scrummaging makes the bomb squad what it is. Best scrummaging loose-head in the world for me.

He just looks so friendly, nobody considers him the true force he his.

always liked Dallagio, on another note Curry is accusing Mbonambi of a racial slur is the rugby headline ?

confused, without knowing the details, dont think it is being taken further

I actually see the merit in Kitsoff starting, for his all-round contributions in the loose. Just wish Ox could get a mean haircut or something. So people notice him!

Last season when Premiership clubs were going bust. Dallaglio said Wasps should be treated differently to Worcester, because they were a bigger club and should escape relegation.

Not a good take to be honest.

I think people are a bit sick of the six nations, the repeated world cup failures have may it so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

Shame we couldn't find a place for Felix Jones somewhere in Ireland. He must be doing something well.

Would be annoying if he somehow managed to revitalise England's game 😂

Yeah, I don't think so. Personally can't wait, and I'm sure it'll be as difficult as ever to get tickets.

I supported both Argentina and England in these semis. For starters, it would be great for the game if other teams were able to compete at the highest level. At the moment there’s more suspense than there is in Leinster Gaelic but not enough for a global competition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,023 ✭✭✭Ardillaun

That was an excellent performance by England - first class scrummaging until Cole and Marler came off. Apart from backchat Farrell behaved himself and that drop-goal was a thing of beauty. Overall, however, I think the better team won.

Anything to back that up. Not seeing it myself.

I think the next 6 Nations is going to be fascinating from a standings point of view.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,122 ✭✭✭Shehal

That's what happens when Ireland and France have to play SA & NZL and England have to play Fiji!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,759 ✭✭✭✭aloooof

I don’t think that’s borne out by the ticket sales or viewing numbers tho.

Well I don't see ourselves caring very much , this is just amongst my friend group , some into rugby more than others. I also don't see the French caring much , losing a home world cup. If you want to live in Dreamland and pretend people are more interested in the six nations more than ever , go ahead. Haha
