I didn’t, and plenty others didn’t. NZ are a top class team

Who cares? What’s the point being top of the rankings I’d you can’t turn up when it matters most?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 464 ✭✭Iamabeliever

Anyone watching rugby didn't. Generic fans did

Proud of the lads. Not the same as the other times they’ve been knocked out. But you can’t go 13-0 down early doors and expect to win a game. They nearly did which says a lot about them. NZ hardly put a foot wrong all day.

End of the road for a few aging stalwarts now. Didnt play well but we can be proud of the heart shown in the second half. Its always the way with NZ - they can score from anywhere at any time.

Surprised at the piss poor set pieces from ireland.

NZL beat us in the kicking battle, the line out, the scrum, in defence and most importantly they took their chances. If NZL had that line out that was held up they would have put it away. When you are off in all these area's we simply don't deserve to win this game and the most frustrating thing is even with all that being said we were a whisker away, imagine if we actually turned up in these departments...

We have to face up to the fact we are bottlers. Being the 'best means nothing when you don't back it up when it matters. 8 quarter finals is a shameful record.

There were a few too many mistakes. So close though.

A national disgrace that Crowley wasn't brought on. Sexton could barely move for the last 20 minutes.

    Genuinely outcoached.

We'd no breakdown success at all.

We'd no line-out to speak of.

We'd no scrum to speak of.

Any of those work properly we overcome those 4 points.

New Zealand will lose the final by 15 or 20.

At least they gave it their all at the end but the same old same old in every quarter final start rubbish and give themselves a mountain to climb! Ireland have not lead in any quarter final match since 1995.

An element of bottling it! Be it NZ gave them nothing but their basics failed, couldn’t finish anything in being up a man for 20 mins.

It’s so tough so tough, we will never get beyond a quarter final. We lack the belief as a nation. Hard to say and hard to take but it’s the truth.

Too many mistakes. Very poor at the breakdown, poor scrum, not a good lineout.

Great effort to be within a shout at the end but fell short again unfortunately.

Hahaha what’s the excuse this time.

For the record, noone from the Irish team has ever said that they are the best team in the world. Also it was twenty minutes....ah why even bother

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,301 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Going to be a pretty **** ending if it's another SH winner.

Because we have failed to produce any real replacement for him.

Because he'd throw a strop if he got subbed.

Because the media would question why he was subbed off if we lost.

    Poor management.

Went out leaving everything there at the end to get the try unlucky Ireland. Fell sorry for Sexton for his last game to end like this. NZ did very good. Lineout again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,076 ✭✭✭griffin100

We were maybe 3% off our best and that’s all it takes at this level.

Not gonna criticise anyone on that team, they gave it their all and just weren’t good enough on the night. Thats sport.

They’ve given us a couple of great nights in this tournament so for that I thank them.

    It's like the mayo curse.

This is the attitude that has us not being able to win on the biggest stage. England, france, nz, SA and even Aus wouldnt be talking that kind of shite.

We need to look at this with a cold cruel gaze.

Too many players didnt fire today. As ive said we played again 14 men for 20 mins and couldnt make it count.

Not good enough. Simple as that really.

Jimmy O'Brien played well when he came on.

    Gutted after that.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,132 ✭✭✭ersatz

Not as good as we thought we were today. 3 scrum penalties for the same offence, right or wrong, you need to adjust. ABs insanely good today, without being great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,755 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

There was a lot of **** talked to anyone who dared question the world number 1 ranking and our cockiness coming into this game.

We never learn, we did the same in 2019 over hyping beating the all blacks the previous year in a meaningless test match.

We got found out again in a knockout game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,901 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

But very inconsistent ; they even lost to a bad Argentina team last year.

It's been a long time since a team did such a number on Ireland's breakdown.

New Zealand deserve the win, but we left points out there, I think.
