Anniversary of the October war.

But I'm surprised by this. Surely this will mean the end of the Gaza Strip as we know it. The military resources of the Israelis are huge.

I do not know how Hamas are not expecting to get crushed. Maybe they feel its time to strike at Israel now, rather than suffer a slow death over years of Isarel taking piece after piece of land.

Either way, a lot of innocent people are going to die.

Ridiculously provocative by Hamas and a bit desperate as all acts of individual terror are but given the abject brutality of the IDF and their political masters against the Palestinians it's hardly a surprise.

The reaction from the Israelis will be swift and brutal I'd imagine and there'll be significant innocent casualties in the occupied areas.

The Israelis can act with impunity and with the full support of the US for their war crimes it's hardly surprising.

Energy and food costs keep going up.

The Palestinians have been pushed and pushed and treated like absolute sh1t by the IDF. Lands taken, home occupied. Settlements sprining up in their former areas.

Something like this was inevitable once peace became impossible.

Still think this was an incredibly bizarre move by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. I do not see any way they come out of this intact and we could end up now seeing the full incorporation of Gaza into the State of Israel.

I'd also add some of the footage out there is reportedly horrific and if true, Palestinians may loose any support they currently have.

If Hamas were a secular organisation this would not be happening. I say this because they must know this uprising will result in the most brutal crackdown every seen in this conflict to date. The currrent Israeli defence minister is the most hawkish they ever had. It would not surprise me if this time Israel go after the Hamas leadership abroad.

Both sides reap what they sow. When Israel bulldoze homes and annex land they should expect attacks from Hamas. When Hamas fire 100s of rockets, they should expect a counter attack from the Idf.

The major hypocritical moral is the West speak out against a similar country, Russia, yet are to afraid to call out the Israelis.

What a **** show. They’re wrong on all sides there, but the annexation of the Palestinian land years ago was the worst step. Of course, the international communities back Israel but that doesn’t mean what they do is right.

I don't play video games anymore. I used to enjoy playing fifa soccer and street fighter. The one thing the Israeli Government and Hamas have in common is they don't care about ordinary Palestinian civilians, who will suffer the most in this yet again.

This is a spectacular failure for Israeli secuirty and military intelligence. A large portion of the border seems to have been breached with Israeli security forces loosing control for a few hours. There will be major political fallout aside from the military reaction.

That's easy to say from the sidelines. With this in mind no doubt the Hamas lads living in opulence in Qatar are egging on the leadership in Gaza

Maybe if their leadership abroad do get targeted they will experience what it is like for ordinary people in Gaza they encourage to be martyrs. I bet they won't be as gung ho for uprisings then.

Many people fail to make the distinction between Palestinians and the Palestinian leadership.

The leadership, in Hamas, is no different to ISIS or Al Qaeda. Their barbaric actions today in Israel are consistent with that comparison.

However, many on the pro-Palestinian side are willing to ignore the nature of that leadership if it means "giving it to Israel" such is their absolute, uncompromising hatred of the state of Israel. That doesn't mean everything Israel does is right or justified. Very few people would claim that, but this one-sided hatred of Israel is what allows many people to casually ignore the destruction and deaths that has happened to Israelis today.

What's happening today in Israel simply cannot be justified, even if you are a supporter of Palestinian rights. Unfortunately from what I've seen on social media and elsewhere, there are plenty of people who are on the side of Hamas in this unjustified act of aggression.

When do the idf go into Palestinian cities and kill people in their beds? Shoot elderly people at a bus stop? Do they also parade the dead bodies of raped women?
