If you fail the fitness test you get a 2nd shot at it is that correct? And if so how long do you have in between before been called 2nd time round?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Marty1476

you do get a second shot, during my time it was three months after your first round test but they may have changed that.

The Guards that run you through the fitness test are really sound and they want you to do well on the day. They understand that you may nervous because of the pressure and will help you out as best they can.

If you do fail they historically have given a decent amount of time for you to re-train and take the test again

HR are very good for this information if you ever want to call them 01-6662571

thanks, I’m actually just after recovering from covid (crazy how covid is still around) 🫣 and now I have an awful chest infection so my doctor actually wrote a letter today to say I’m not fit enough to do to the test until a later date so I I’m going to email that off tomorrow an hopefully they’ll accept that letter

On my email it says to just bring a physical copy of the GP very with you on the day of your PCT

& maybe just ID to be on the save side

Id, a copy of your gp cert and a copy of the invitation email for the PCT.

You'll 'check in' at the main gate and then you will all meet in the main entrance where a member of AGS will brief you where to go and what to expect.

There is a decent shop inside the college but not sure if it will be open on a Saturday so bring a big bottle of water and anything you like to keep the energy levels up. Coffee machine in the mess hall only takes coins so no harm in having a bit of change with you.

all in all you'll be there about 5/6 hours so an aul sambo or protein bar wouldn't hurt to have with you.

Hi guys, anybody from batch 3 here that got the results? The wait is killing me, it's over 3 weeks now since I've done my interview 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Marty1476

if you're based in Dublin i can put you in touch with a retired chief super who does 1 on 1 interview prep, defo worth the small investment (about 70 euro if i remember correctly). The interview is definitely something you want to be organized for. PM me if you want

Serving member here who’s been through the process in the last 7 or so years if anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to send me a pm 👍🏻 Something that was done for me on Boards when going through the process so looking to repay the favour, if it can help out anyone. It’s all slightly different since I was through it but if I can help someone, I will 👍🏻

Has anyone from batch 1 not received there medical results yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 christy188

No, no results from medical. Though I was invited and completed a meeting with my local Sargent on Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 racheldowney2

I didn’t think they would leave it this long for us. I’ll be five weeks on Friday waiting for my results. The lady in the interview said 2-3 weeks for me 🤣 suppose I’ll get them when I least expect to.
