He’s a con man. End of discussion. It’s actually boring to post about him it so clear.

Bangs fists against wall "but I want to wake up a certain kind of US voter to that".

It looks like Kevin McCarthy has started an end game move with the weird section of the GOP with his announcement that an impeachment charge is to be laid against Joe Biden. Its apparently connected to the GOP plans for an agreement on federal funding or something along those lines.

The definition of a circular firing squad.

Trying (and failing) to impeach Biden will not win them a single new vote or seat , but it will almost certainly lose them a few in Swing seats.

And when he agrees to launching impeachment , they'll still find a way to cause a shut-down.

Pandering to nutters never ends well

What are they trying to get him on? What's the charge, exactly?

    Something something "Biden Crime family"...

They haven't said anything specific , because they have nothing.

The Jordan/Comer snipe hunt has been a bust , but the MAGA loons own McCarthy and they want an impeachment to make daddy happy so that's what they'll get so Kevin can keep his job for a few more weeks.

And now that he's announced this , they will pivot to trying to shut-down the Government at the end of the month as well.

So, it's plainly a political stunt. A way to get the Democrats back for Trump's multiple impeachments.

I can't see this doing anything for the GOP's voting figures to be honest.

Jack Smith seems to know how to conduct his business and I hope he is successful. I have a horror that he may have given Trump something to use in convincing the fanbase that the witch-hunt rabbit-hole is real with his application to the court to gag Trump by judicial order. Trump will obviously make hay until such an order is issued and will probably get his legal team to seek an overturning of the order on infringement of constitutional rights grounds, tying down valuable prosecutor time in court [appeal] appearances.

The similarity to what is standard practice in Putin's Russia is something Trump wont consider unethical or unfriendly to use against Smith, the DOJ and Joe Biden.

Don seems to be trying to ride two horses at the same time, attacking RDS on the Florida law against abortion, which he possibly thinks will gain him favour on the pro-abortion rights front when it comes to votes. Attacking RDS on the abortion front will probably lose him Christian votes, if he has still got any in that camp.

Trump seems to desire more publicity as he's used his platform to suggest that General Milley, Chair of the JCS, should be executed for the way he ran the US Military exit operation from Afghanistan. He's included a reference to the "Fake News" media in his statement as being the source of his reasoning on what should happen to General Milley while holding Milley responsible for the deaths of several hundred US military there at the time of the pullout. Coincidentally Trump forgot that his administration negotiated the withdrawal settlement with the Taliban in Feb 2020 which excluded the Afghan Govt.

Kettle calling pot black sprang to mind, given how Trump treated the US and its constitution while sitting president. I can only suppose he never thought of how the founding fathers of the US and the writers of it's constitution might treat him for his activities while in office in 2020 and 2021.

It now remains to be seen if the DOJ makes a request that the restraint ruling the judge ordered Trump to comply with not to go after jurors and others including possible witnesses in the court case be enforced on Trump. No doubt Trump would love the publicity any such move would make.

The attack on RDS over the six week ban is fascinating, yeah he is right its to extreme but he is basically saying FU to the evangelicals and tbh I don't see it hurting him whatsoever because the GOP voting block don't care about policy or ideological purity despite all the screeching about Rinos.

It's a damning indictment on them though that they will likely show up to vote for him in the primary instead of the likes of RDS who has run a much more socially conservative campaign, but heh as others have said its a cult with them and they ain't quitting until he is dead.

However I don't think it helps much in the national, I don't think their are many swing voters out their who are going to think much about Trump's abortion stance when it comes to voting in November 2024 and obviously Trump is still bragging about ending Roe which doesn't help either.

The facts in your paragraphs should be a boon for RDS from the Evangelical votes POV, if they were to follow the religious belief over the worldly one of Trump-ism. God or Gop?

Even Allen Weisselberg is on the list, though he's been flipped by the prosecution.....

It's only applicable to businesses run in NY; the question is if he can't move the ownerships etc. to a non NY entity instead. The fact the AG got a summary judgement on Trump's filing and his "It stated on the forms we submitted that the value could be worthless" is big but it only applies to that part; i.e. the judge confirmed Trump lied on the valuation of his property. The AG still needs to show how much the organization benefited from this lie (claim is $150MM in lower interest) and if they get the 5 year ban for them to run companies in NY state or not.

So fortunately it's the state and city that may have lost out on revenue, not the fed, due to the false entries on his returns over many years. No pardon if he is prosecuted and sentenced to a term of imprisonment.

I take it these false returns were also used to get loans from banks, include the Deutsche Bank loans, which would be separate fraud offences.

I assume the state took measures to prevent Trump's Companies from transferring ownership of any business and properties listed on the returns.

Obviously the above poll like all polls is far from perfect etc, but they are going nowhere and Trump knows it. Marks, cultists, whatever term you want to use its pretty bleak nonetheless.

It only remains to see how many years it takes both parties get past the polarisation - that Trump took advantage of and widened to the chasm it is now - and get together to bury the past. Given how the first civil war was successfully resurrected to aid the dissenters and conspiracy theorists in getting the conman-in-chief onside, probably with no real objection as he'd know an opportunity when he saw one, that might take another 150 odd years.

One of former President Donald Trump’s co-defendants has pleaded guilty to five counts in the 2020 election subversion case in Georgia.

Bail bondsman Scott Hall, 59, is the first defendant in the case brought by the Fulton County district attorney’s office to take a plea agreement with prosecutors. Hall was accused of conspiring to unlawfully access voter data and ballot counting machines at the Coffee County election office on January 7, 2021.

He spent hours inside a restricted area of the election office when voting systems were breached, which was connected to efforts by pro-Trump conspiracy theorists to find voter fraud. Hall was captured on surveillance video at the office on the day of the breach. He testified before the special grand jury in the Fulton County case and acknowledged that he gained access to a voting machine.

Taken from CNN and I got a feeling one of many to come if I'm honest...

Reading one article that covered his conviction and sentence, one fact that stood out is that the deed was done on the day after the storming of the Capitol building. No P/M by those behind it on what the failure of the attack on the Capitol meant for the future of the US. Instead they went on to use the same type of hacking of the vote machines in other locations and states, and used data seized from the machines in the first hacking to spread lies and fake news to the effect Trump was the legitimate winner.

It's great that Dominion won it's case in court and disproved the lies and fake news from Trump's mouth and the mouths of his spokespersons.

Which daddy trump or putin (or both) given funding for Ukraine is part of the reasoning for the shutdown.

Him cutting a deal is exceptionally bad news for Sydney Powell as she is charged with the same offences so if his deal includes spilling on her , it puts pressure on her to make a deal and she'll have to pony up something juicy to get one.

And Guiliani was her conduit into Trumps inner circle.

Would be hilarious if the conspiracy theorist flipped to work with "the Feds"

She'd merely be another of those he refers to as "deranged".

If the GOP impeachment hearing into Joe Biden fails because what the GOP conspiracy heads claim to be a mountain of evidence proves to be a big fat zero BUT still causes a US Govt shutdown due to the Speakers failure to do his job in keeping an orderly GOP house, will those US Govt employees and their dependents who lose due to the shutdown take revenge on the speaker and the conspiracy theorists?

Will the failure of the Speaker to do his job rebound on him within the GOP if it looks like his dereliction will affect the vote returns to the GOP?

I'm inputting a quote from an opinion-piece by Ahmed Baba [a US columnist and founder of RANNT Media] from the Irish Indo about 13 hours ago:

Former Trump chief strategist and right-wing influencer Steve Bannon echoed this on his show. Bannon suggested that starting with witnesses like Turley, who said there is no evidence of impeachable offences yet, was a mistake.

    https://www.msn.com/en-ie/news/world/joe-biden-impeachment-hearing-branded-unmitigated-disaster-as-even-republican-witnesses-admit-lack-of-evidence/ar-AA1htfMt?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=113f02385a7449e2b17a220f2ba27fa8&ei=34

Turley is a Georgetown law professor who has provided witness testimony for the GOP in the past.

Turley has always been Trumpy so yeah if is not convinced and Bannon thinks he is weak for the impeachment, then yeah that's not a good start to say the least!

Turley isn't the problem. The complete lack of any evidence is the problem.

But instead of admitting that, Bannon blames the process.

If they had the evidence then it wouldn't make any difference. The only mistake was allowing someone testify the truth rather than simply making stuff up.
