I rang public services today to get a reason as to why my personal declaration was deemed incomplete, and spoke with a worker there. I resubmitted my documents a couple of days ago with a PDF version of the personal declaration and my documents listed in order in the email. He sent me an email back saying my documents look okay and if there is a problem someone will be in contact with me over the next couple of days.

Fitness test first. I completed and passed my fitness on Aug 12th, then had my medical exam on the 17th - awaiting results now, no idea how long they'll be or how long it usually takes...

Anybody doing their PCT on the 9th take note of weather that day 💀 I wonder if we will have to deal with the heat much Because doing a beep test in that heat is gonna be brutal

Is anyone nervous in regards to cuteness test due to their level of fitness? Is there any tips anyone can give to help with preparing for it and what is best to train to get prepared?

Guys, I'm batch 2 and I got an email today about my form B Form. We have till 18th September to return it and I have a question. Does anybody know how the selection process works for fitness test dates? Im trying to postpone my fitness test to the most that I can because I have booked a holidays in September and I don't want to get a date for then. Does anybody know what would be better, to fill out the form as quick as possible or to wait till last day?

The vetting office and the HR office work independently of each other and only really speak to pass on information if your vetting is cleared or not

fill it out asap, if you leave it to the last day there may be complications and the vetting process can't begin until they have that form filled out correctly

The fitness test dates are operated by the HR office, if you have a concern that the dates may conflict with a holiday give the HR office a call and speak to them, they are very understanding and will work with you to set a date within reason

I was very concerned about my level of fitness for the physical and I only had three weeks to prepare.

What I did was three solid weeks of altitude spin classes to build up lung capacity. after that I had a personal trainer who made up a 'mock' obstacle course which I ran through 4 times a week for three weeks to prepare.

if anyone is near Bray and is looking for help with this check out 'NXTGEN performance centre on Facebook, there's even a video of the mock test they set for me on their page

I did my fitness test with a group of 25 other people, only 8 of us passed it that day. The main areas that people got caught out on were sit-ups, press ups and the push/pull machine.

If you want more information I am more than happy to help

this is very common and don't worry too much about it. I had my documents sent back as incomplete as I didn't have Eircodes put down for every previous address I had lived at or Eircodes for my Aunties and Uncles.

They should outline what isn't complete in their email and they may even phone you to run through it with you, its typically something small but they need you personally to confirm it before they can move forward

Thanks a million. What did you need to reach on the bleep and how was your level of fitness before working out? Do you have any tips for taking the bleep in general

Bleep test passing scores are online if you Google them. They vary based on age and sex. E.g. Male 18-25 need to get 8.8 to pass.

The best way to train, in my opinion, is to measure out 20m , download the bleep test audio and practice and try and get above the required score you need. You’ll know fairly quick how fit you are by doing this.

Hi guys, I’m batch 2 and never received a form b, I seen the other commenter received one. Do you supposed they send them out in chunks and I should keep waiting, or should I reach out and ask about ?

Hi. Can anyone tell me if you have an injury coming upto the fitness will they re schedule another date and give some time or what would happen! Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Marty1476

I was 34 at the time of my bleep test and had to hit 8.1. once you hit the mark they will stop you so there is no expectation to go beyond your required range.

my advice is NOT to stop dead on the mark when you reach the line, if that makes sense.

The first few levels are easy but when you reach the line run a small semi circle around the line and continue on, those who stop dead on the line and start from zero momentum have the hardest time keeping up in the higher levels.

    I hope this makes sense

they will re schedule if you declare an injury.

You will need to back the injury up with a doctors note and then again with another note from your GP to say you're medically fit to attend a fitness test.

this could delay things for you but they are very understanding

That’s great , thank you so much. is it HRPD that I need to inform about this? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Marty1476

    Great advice!

if you have good cardio the bleep test will be no problem to you.

What I will say is to focus on your form for press ups and sit ups (loads of videos available so please watch them as they may be different to what you're used to) , this is where most people get caught out, a bad press up or sit up won't be counted which can fluster you when you're in the height of it.

The obstacle course is easy enough but don't rush it, it's not a race and when you get to the PUSH/PULL machine take a breath and give it your all!

The Push pull machine is designed to simulate the struggle you may have after chasing someone down as a Garda.

When you get to this machine you will be knackered but what you need to remember is that ' this person is trying to take my life' and you need to fight to stay alive!!!

Give it everything you have or else you're not going home to your family tonight

Keep that in the back of your mind when you're on the machine and blast it out!

Here's a link to the bleep test that will be used

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 edags55

Mind if I asked what you ranked? I am in the 50s and still haven’t received a form b.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭runnerboy

I came about 200 in batch 2 after the interview. I got an email to fill form B last week to be completed by the 18th Sept or otherwise id be taken off the list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43 SkyBoy69

Does anyone know if you can select the date for the fitness test? Just sent away my Form B today I'm batch 2, early October seems a bit unrealistic for training etc.. Do the fitness tests take part at the weekend or weekday also?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 edags55

Maybe I should email then! I haven’t received any correspondence since passing the interview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭runnerboy
