That's really schneaky. I'll definitely be moving regardless of the discount they offer.

Electric Ireland 24hr standard rate including the automatic 5.5% discount leaves a vat inclusive unit price of 36.80 so it’s still dearer than Bord Gais whose vat inclusive unit price (after 33% discount) is 32.29. And BG haven’t announced price decreases….. yet!

i think the BG customers who received 38% and above discounts are lower than Flogas rate. I missed the boat on Flogas so was happy enough to retain 33% discount. Fingers crossed they reduce the unit price.

Flogas is fixed rate so will be interesting to see how it balances out over a 12 month period.

Yeah BG electric is 29.88 including Vat for me

Yes you're right I think it's around 26-27c only for present customers about to exit their contract, a great offer in fairness, and the kicker? I left them for the Flogas deal😊 Dems de breaks as they say😊

Airtricity have just increased new customer discounts right? They haven't reduced the standard rates (yet).

Still 13c gas after that discount. That's at least 30% overpriced. Avoid.

Any hope FloGas offers come again. I think that is my best hope of getting a good deal seeing as I missed the boat on my BG renewal. Think will hold tough until end of next week as reckon all price decreases will be announced by then!

Am I right that comparing SSE and Flogas, the electricity sc €221 vs €277, the gas sc €139 vs €220 (ex-VAT)?

Still more expensive for smart meter users than Energia's rates from October.

Just to update on this - I had no joy. BG said it's a Flogas error that I got moved and the best discount they can offer me on the gas is 15%. They won't match the original 44% I was being offered.

Flogas just shrugged their shoulders, apologised and said they'd send out €30.

Really bad form from both companies I think.

So I'm currently out of contract on my gas and don't really know what to do next - I see there are price decreases so maybe just hold tough for a week or two?

Same boat as yourself but the way I see it, I'm still on a better deal then most. I can plan for the winter and if something better comes along, I'll take it.

Broke contract with EI last year to get the OBS deal. Saved a fortune. Can't always win.

What cuts did Airtricity announce? I don't recall seeing any.

I really hope the people who fund these measures (the middle income tax payer), is going to receive the same measures as people who dont fund them.

No, they have been calling me. I just asked them to confirm the unit rates they initially offered. I'm told something different every time they call.

Yes it was one of the links that since expired.

If you have confirmation that the application was cancelled and they went through with it and you now also have evidence that it is causing you a loss then you should complain and if they don't give you a fairly hefty payment or something akin to your loss raise it with the CRU.

Rang Flogas today as contract expired, what can they offer. The sales rep just read the rates off the website, nothing else. I had an email from them earlier, offering me the same rate plus €100 and a camera, I didn't used this, I thought it wasn't the best deal. So much for loyalty.

I'm switching to SSE, with the €300 welcome bonus I'm saving €150 over the other offer, despite the unit rates being higher but sc's are lower.

Something similar happened to me. I rang BG when I got the email offering the 40% discount if I renew.

Rang them straight away 7pm and explained to agent that I was in process of switching but still within the cooling off period and if I cancelled the switch would the offer still be there.

Agent said it should be cos they usually stay a while. So I told her I'm goin to cancel the switch and accepted BG renewal offer. I then immediately sent switch cancellation email to Flogas and the accepted BG renewal offer online.

9am next morning I rang flogas to confirm cancellation. Later that day I rang BG to check my renewal discount went thru.

Agent said no cos I'm out of contract as flogas took control of the metre earlier that day.

Very politely but firmly explained I had cancelled before flogas completed the switch and that BG agent had said the night before that I should still have my renewal offer.

Any she kept repeating same speel that nothing she could do. In the end I just said she may talk to her manager as I will be putting in a complaint

Her manager said he will reactivat my account and hopefully the discount offered comes back. Took about 3 days and then I got email to say my renewal gone thru at the 40% discount.

Keep onto bord gais if I were you.

Rates increase by 100% - goes to €2 from €1

Rates decrease by 20% - goes from €2 to €1.6

It becomes a news article ffs !!

    BE CAREFUL

On a posting on FB today in the solar forum, someone commented on their Flogas rates, that they checked and Flogas confirmed that their 29c rate was FIXED.

So if rates decrease, then you won't benefit in the future. I doubt they would be fixed if rates were increasing.

The fixed rate part of the flogas deal was very clear and posters here seemed happy so I assume everyone understood that, it’s only €50 to leave anyway if the rate drop by massive amounts

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

Yea we can read when signing up and don't need a FB posting to point out the obvious... With Dumbo Martin blabbing that there's electricity handouts in the pipeline, that's all for now folks, there's no more price drops😡

    Another bill for the taxpayer...

So with the exception of some lucky BG renewal customers the Flogas deal is still the best out there @ 29.99c, I'm happy with that.

The fixed rate was the attraction, it's widely reported that any price drops will be modest, so locking in a rate for a year gives stability. They could actually go up before the year is up too.
