Moving From Private to Public sector

Hi All,

About 2 to 3 years ago I moved from the private IT sector to the public IT sector.

I took a fairly hefty pay decrease in doing so(which I knew would be the case).

However when I took the role my previous IT experience wasn't counted so I started on grade 1 of the scale.

I didn't question/fight it at the time because I happy to get the job and suited my personal situation.

I suppose my question is would anyone know, have I left it too late to request that experience be counted?

There is incremental credit for previous service which is an application process. You should speak to your union to if it applies to you and exactly which application form you should use. Definitely pursue it, they can only say no.

I would say yeah you are 100% too late sadly.

Was your previous experience public or state sector and in the EU?

If not, then it's irrelevant.
