    Hi,

Two boys started playing chess 11, 13. Nearest chess club is 20 mins drive away and started back up end of sept

Is there anywhere more casual to meet up and have a few games of chess in Dublin or is it all just club's?

    Thanks

Mostly clubs. Online is your only option that I know of, unless it's through schools....

Chess.com is very good,, play a few games to get a rating, then stick to the tournaments,, one starts every half hour or so..

Are there any options for tournaments that are not against the clock? I use a hands free technology that can be slow

No, all the tournaments would be on the clock,,, But some of them are 30 minutes,, so lots of time.

Clubs can be fairly casual in fairness.

What are you thinking of in terms of activity?

You try meetup.com. there is one in courigans, rathmines every Tuesday at 9 or there's one in belfry/sin e every second Sunday

has anyone found a good online spot to play casual, no-pressure games lately?

I’ve been using Lichess and the analysis board with friends is pretty handy. Do any of you use voice chat while playing, or do you just stick to the in-game chat? I'm curious how others keep the social aspect going.

I always get a bit rusty after long breaks. Playing online games really helped me ease back into it without pressure. I usually jump into a few 10-minute games in the evening just to keep sharp and enjoy some light strategy. It’s been great for casually reconnecting with chess without making it feel like a big deal.
