Missed credit card payments - CCR query

Hi , I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this. Does your CCR history delete after 5 years or is it 5 years after the lending product is paid in full. I missed payments last year quite a few , had a 10k limit , I have paid it all off. I would like to keep the CC but have the limit set at 1.5k but I am worried that it would keep sight of the missed payments then for longer than 5 years , or has the 5 year timer started from last year.

Closing the account won't make the credit history disappear faster or slower.

And with some "problems" last year, you might find it difficult to get a new card.

That's my question, is the 5 years from when it's all closed or from the last missed repayment. I am not trying to make it go quicker than 5 years as I have clearly stated. Not sure what the tone is for and you didn't clearly answer the question. You even quoted "problems" even though I said "I missed payments last year , quite a few"

It should be five years since the missed payment. Does your CCR history now show any outstanding debit on the account ?

Apologies , I was prob being over defensive. I havent seen the CCR I just know I missed a lot of payments around a year ago , balance is paid off and I'd like to keep a small limit for being abroad but maybe it's just better to close the account. As you said I'd struggle to get another credit card but that's my fault haha.

It's up to you, but I do not see any benefit in closing the account, unless you think you might missed payments again...

No I think I should be fine with the much reduced limit!. I was just worried that in 5 years time they could see my missed payments from 2022. Thanks for your help

The CCR will show the last 24 months reported, for a period of 5 years. If you keep your card in order for the next 24 months the negative records will then be fully purged. If you close the account now, the last 24 months will remain visible for 5 years (with the older records being removed starting from month 36, until none are visible at month 61).

Keep the account active and in order and all will be clean in 24 months.
