problem with carpenter in house

I hired a carpenter to fit a lock , remove boards from door he,s a friend of my neighbour next door.

it turns out hes a con man .he is working in the house , he did not put on the lock, he put steel on the door he blocked the door .

he says he,s doing all the work repairs in the house .house is in a terrace .i cant acess the house , i have his name and phone no .

he says he will buy the house.

i cant advertise the house with an estate agent.

he removed all my furniture .

i went in before he put steel on the door . and i left .

my neighbour says what will happen is i,ll get a large bill 50k plus ,

eg ill have to sell him the house ,i dont have 50k to spend on anything .

i post on another website .they said just call the gardai .

if the gardai call to the house its boarded up,all windows are boarded up .

what will the do , bust down steel and front door ?

and theres no one there . and then ill have to pay a carpenter to board it up again

i have his phone no,he sends me txts every week.

he goes thru my neighbours house over the wall thru my back garden into the house

i dont know what to do .

i am on a low income ,he has a building company with a website .

i cant live in house theres no power ,esb is disconnected

You were given advice on this weeks ago - if you only hired him to fix a lock then thats all you have to pay him for. You do not have to sell him the house if you didnt agree to that.

Break into your own house and claim it back. Get all locks changed and secure all round so he cant access it. Go to gardai and report him. Move into house yourself if you have to.

I can't move into house there's no power no ESB connection. The neighbours would not want someone living there with no power supply. He can go into my back garden anytime he wants.

Do the council usually go and board up private houses. Never heard of that. Surely that's also trespassing.

I did not have access to the house to fit the lock the door was boarded up. Carpenter can go thru neighbours house

Of course I was stupid eg I should have just hired any local carpenter instead of my neighbours best friend

It's a costly mistake to make

This is not a wind up he has control of the house I cannot go to an estate agent or get inside to do any repairs

Estate agents usually do a survey on a house before they advertise it for sale

and measure the rooms

I trusted my neighbour would send me to a person who was honest

It's hard to advertise a house for sale without using an estate agent

Do people think I'm making this up for a laugh,?

You received the advice on four threads under two persona on two different websites. What more do you want? Have you contacted the Gardaí? Have you had the locks changed? The story, no matter how incredulous, only has so many solutions. What detail do you want? I'm sure you can look up the nearest Garda station and find someone to change to locks without it being spelled out to you.
