yes, ESB Networks will change your current meter to a smart meter.
You don't have to change to a smart tariff with your supplier.

You will get estimated export income until they install a new meter. Typically they try install a new meter quickly once they know you have solar. If you refuse you cannot get money for export, estimated or not.
