I don't get the comparison to the piano. That wasn't a fake attempt to make the player or club look like nice guys. The Newcastle one even has 'wholesome' in the description (face palm). It's so lacking in sincerity and subtlety that only a despot could think it is good PR.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...

Not quite. Discovery (who own Eurosport) bought 50% of BT Sport last year. They're rebranding as TNT Sport and will subsume Eurosport over the next year or two.

From July 2023, TNT Sports will continue the spirit of what BT Sport has built over the past decade.

This new brand will be brought to life for the first time later this year shortly before the start of the 2023/2024 football season. Until then, fans will continue to enjoy BT Sport on all of its channels and platforms as they do today.

On forming last year, the Joint Venture announced plans to combine BT Sport and Eurosport UK, bringing together one of the most extensive line-ups of live sports coverage for fans in the UK & Ireland - including the Olympic Games, the Premier LeagueUEFA Champions LeagueUEFA Europa LeaguePremiership RugbyMotoGPUFCBoxingWWE, tennis Grand Slams, cycling Grand Tours and the winter sports season. Eurosport (U.K & Ireland only) will become part of this new brand at some time in the future.

BT Sport subscribers already enjoy complimentary access to discovery+ which includes Eurosport’s streaming offer and wide range of entertainment programming.

TNT Sports will have a dedicated brand for the U.K & Ireland that reflects the fan-first approach for which BT Sport has become renowned.

The name already has an association with premium live sport in other countries as part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s family of brands. This includes being home to top-level domestic and European football in a number of countries in Latin America, while live sport has been a staple on the TNT network in the U.S, including the NBA, NHL and NCAA.

The BT and Warner Bros. Discovery Joint Venture was formed on 1 September 2022.

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Well maybe if they meant **** mundane analysis by tedious ex players then it's just telling the truth

If Everton think that Ashley Young is the answer, they’ve asked the wrong question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,869 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Was the question; has the Everton manager signed an ex-teammate yet?!

Ashley Young & Sean Dyche playing together at Watford is something I did not know about previously.

He was really good for Villa last season, obviously he's getting on but he's in good nick and a lot of people were disappointed to not see him offered another year.

Yeah hes always been weirdly maligned and meme'd more than he deserves.

Everton have left Mykolenko off their pre-season tour so they dont have a left back. Young slots straight in solving the problem.

Puzzled as to how much of him you watched last season. A comfortable regular starter who was one of the better players in a top 7 team last season.

He’s an excellent stop gap option for a team who can’t really afford to fill every gap with long term solutions at the moment.

Think he’ll be on the right, especially with Coleman having been injured and Patterson yet to take flight there.

He was always more comfortable on the right than left at Villa, although part of that will have been the system where Emery expects his left sided player to have much more attacking responsibilities.

He played 90 mins about 15 times last year, and most of them were when the team was struggling. The man who saw more of him that anyone decided not to renew his contract.

He was also a stand out player in that struggling team, and continued to be excellent whenever he played under Emery. I would have him ahead of Coleman at this point, particularly with Coleman's fitness issues. He has a lot to offer a Premier League side, maybe not 90 mins a game for 38 games but he's still performing at a really high level.

I’d imagine if Villas financial situation was anything like Evertons Emery would have happily kept him on board. If he is all you can get then I’d understand the annoyance but if he allows you to invest elsewhere by providing needed squad depth across a number of positions along with being a pro in training who was always praised for his positive impact on others / young players then it could be a very shrewd move.

As a Villa fan I would not have had any issues if he had of gotten a final one year extension as his play deserved it.

Walker has apparently agreed terms with Bayern according to press reports. City are fairly shaking it up this summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,674 ✭✭✭doc_17

And he clearly thinks he’s done. Words are one thing, actions are another. And actions always speak louder than words. What did you expect Emery to say? “Yeah, we’re glad to see the back of him…”.

On another note, surely it can’t be true that Henderson is being offered £700k for 3 years? If that’s the case there will be a stampede of top footballers in their prime wanting to go out. It’s just nuts. Henderson can make more in 3 years than he did in his previous 15 year professional career.

Trevor Francis, British football’s first £1million player, has died at the age of 69. The ex-Birmingham City forward, who scored Nottingham Forest’s winner in the 1979 European Cup final, died in Spain from a heart attack.

    RIP

    Apologies if wrong thread

    RIP

Im old enough to remember the faffing about the million pound player, the cries of 'the game is gone' and where will it all end? Very talented player, always seemed to carry the price tag around with him though. Quite burden.

    Different times.

That’s a bit of a disaster for Spurs, a summer when they needed investment now sees them dealing with a crisis like that. They aren’t fond of the insider trading business in the SDNY, although I’m sure it happens routinely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,674 ✭✭✭doc_17

West Ham have held initial talks with Manchester United about signing England defender Harry Maguire, 30, and Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay, 26. (Sky Sports)

That would be one way to spend the Rice money…..

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,562 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Serioualy doubt it impacts Spurs in any way. Lewis gives **** all to the club for transfers, and he's only going to end up getting a fine of a few million dollars.

Doesn't look great, but this is business as usual for billionaires.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,278 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

He probably forgot to pay someone lol

I can’t see how it impacts spurs in anyway, insider trading is rife, as you say he’s not spending his own cash to buy players

Didn’t he handover some assets last year to his family? How interested will they be in Spurs?
