Think after this weekend, the damage was done in the game against Armagh. Dublin, Kerry and Derry all won after the week off from topping the group. Only Monaghan won from winning the week previously which I think shows Armagh was lucky to be there as group winners. Having said that, I think we would have had only one more outing as based on Kerry and Dublin's performances over the weekend, we would not have gotten close to them. We haven't put up a score like that against decent opposition in 20 years. We need to make huge progress in our forward division if we are to succeed. Asking Comer or Walsh to have spectacular days is not a plan.

    Nigel Owens confirmed as ref......

the rugby ref, they must be worried its going to get overly physical. 😀 Lovely. rode us against clare in 2018 semi buying tony kelly's dive.

Picked up 4 lower cusacks this morning 308 and lower hogans on either 21 available aswell. Only 310 lower cusacks available there now but if hold on till later in week and keep an eye out on the stadium map view of tickets and can see the exact location of seats you should get something decent. its not like it will sell out so best wait.

🤣🤣 Apologies. I think the shock of the selection frazzled me a little! Not his biggest fan....

He reffed the 2018 Final in addition to letting Hegarty away with murder in the 2020 semi. So not a great omen.

Owens we can forget about it. He’s rode us every time he’s on the pitch. Tullamore against KK in the first half yrs ago is still burned into my head. The mandarins in croker want a limerick v kk final with a cats win. Mark my words.

We all seem to have a Owens memories burnt into our brains. 2018 Leinster Final replay when he let Ger Aylward take 12 steps to kick the ball to the net will never leave me!!

Jason Flynn injured for the rest of championship. One of our 10minute closers gone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭mjp

Not great to hear as he's had a good impact in matches this year and been one of his better years. His size and physique would he needed this weekend more than even with limerick's back 6 as be afraid likes of Liam Collins will struggle to make an impact against them.We need a big impact from Conor Cooney off the bench this weekend as he badly needs a decent performance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,701 ✭✭✭MfMan

Wonder will C Cooney start instead of Concannon, who's nearly been as inconsistent this season? Conor has more physical presence and might be a good foil at full forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,852 ✭✭✭spurshero

If Concannon has being inconsistent Cooney has being dreadful . But there is a word going around that Concannon is struggling with an injury so if that’s true then maybe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭mjp

Concannon is being sacrificed out to half forward line for kevin Cooney and rightly so as Cooney has done well inside with Whelo. However concannons game is suffering as a result and not suited by it. there is no doubting conor cooneys ability but its just not happening for him in games and the more it doenst happen for him the more its hitting him psychologically. He's a confidence player.

Think AHnnon will be sorely missed by Limerick at 6 this weekend as hes the glue that keeps it all ticking over for them and been ever present there during Kiely's tenure. He stays under the radar but the players around him will feel his loss come saturday i believe. who do we think will play there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,701 ✭✭✭MfMan

Wonder could Hannon yet make an appearance? Stranger things have happened.

Concannon only got into the Leinster final when moved to the HF line. His goal in Nowlan Park came from running deep also. Maybe wing-forward might suit him better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,329 ✭✭✭cosatron

i also thought concannon looked good out in the half forward line aswell. I think the forwards will be alright considering they are missing finn and Hannon but can we hold Limerick to around 20 pionts is the question,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,407 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

I dunno. Concannon has been finding more ball and had a couple of very handy scores he wasted against Tipp. There'll be days where it just doesn't happen and he had his shocker against Tipp. I think he's more effective in the half forward-line and that gives Kevin Cooney and Whelo the chance to pull the fullback-line out to the wings. They're both well able to beat their man one on one.

Elsewhere I heard rumours Hannon would be fit enough to take a spot on the bench Saturday. He wouldn't be risked unless the game is down to the wire though.

I have two tickets for section 705 upper Cusack, Row A so that is front between 45 and 65. My Dad cannot go and my friend as a spare elsewhere so looking to off load. My friends were complementary so if I could get 70 back for mine I’d be happy.

Not sure if the positions make a difference? Will we start with Daithí at 3?

Ja Mannion and Gavin Lee onto the bench for Jason Flynn and Shane Cooney.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,606 ✭✭✭✭cson

    Is Flynn injured?

Surprised Shefflin would drop him altogether with how often he uses him off the bench.

It's a fairly decent bench tbh.

It's a very good bench, which means we should finish with our strongest team. Not sure we can say we're starting with our strongest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,882 ✭✭✭Robson99

I can't see who on that bench bar maybe Monaghan you would trust to come in and make a big difference and even with him it's 50...50. We have no forward there that will make a difference. If Whelan doesn't produce a 9/10 performance it could be a 10 point hammering

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,291 ✭✭✭threeball

Can't see GMac picking up Lynch, he'd turn him inside out but can't see him being taken out of the centre either so we have a real problem there. Our best bet is to drop our HF line into midfield as much as possible and drop Mannion back to sweep. This will crowd the centre and make their running game more difficult as well as limit their long range shooting. It'll also open up space in front of whelan and concannon.

Will you stop. Whelan was quiet last year and it was level with 3 mins left

Fair enough.... 12 months is a long time ago.... Cant see Concannon, Fahy, Glennon, Niland or Kevin Cooney scoring 1-3 or 1-4 if Whelan is kept quiet and certainly cant see us keeping Limerick below 26 points
