3 year old car with 2 years left on the guarantee. Dealership I bought it from 2 years ago have not been great to deal with. Car has had a few problems and dealership hasn't been great at rectifying things.

Service is due soon (€300) and I really don't want to have it done with them. They say it will affect my guarantee if I don't have it done by the end of the month. Can I have it done at another dealership and will it affect my guarantee if I do? Dealer I was thinking of used to be a dealer for my car make but not anymore. They still service them though and do a good job. My partner has the same car and is pleased with them.

bring it to another main dealer - not worth hassle bringing it to non main dealer / service dealer while still under warranty . There wont be any goodwill from manufacturer if problem occurs otherwise.

i got gear linkages replaced near end of warranty - main dealer ( who didnt buy van from ) said he would out in a request and see what happens - they were approved - wouldnt have happened if didnt have full main dealer history.

When you say guarantee, do you mean the manufacturers warranty on the car? If you do, you can go to any main dealer for that brand or an independent garage. You just have tell the independent place it’s under warranty and to use the correct parts to keep the warranty up. They’ll know what to do anyway.

Since the dealer you bought off is no longer an dealer for that brand, they are essentially an independent garage when they are working on your car.

Since you’re not happy with the service, vote with your feet/tyres!

No, it's the dealer OP is think of going to who is no longer an approved service agent. We gather the guy who sold him the car is still a main dealer for that make.

They still may be an approved service garage just not selling anymore.

Correct! Knowing the dealership I bought it from, I wouldn't put it past them to not honour the warranty should anything go wrong. I'm in two minds now.
