Andy McAnally .... McAnally ... wonder if that is Ray McAnally's grandson :) I realize he is just one of the management team but ...

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

So I finally relented and paid my TV licence last month in appreciation of Tubs leaving the Late Late Show.

    I want my money back!

Accidently over paid more than the average worker earns in a year

If they can't even manage to pay the staff properly what is to say anything else is financially correct

And is he going to pay it back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,798 ✭✭✭Frank Grimes

From what's being reported it wasn't an accident.

I'm so glad I don't pay my TV licence.

Also Tubs is talk shite he could have back in 2021 written to RTÉ to say that he had received 512,000 and not what had been reported, where did he think this money came from?

And RTÉ should have known the differences in 2021 as they had held on to those figures for an additional year.

Also it just shows how RTÉ view their commercial income... as their commercial income not that of a company owned by the public.

A weird setup. An advertiser paid Tubs and RTE reduced their bill accordingly.

If you were a cynical type (not me) you might say they were trying to hide Tubs true salary.

Not only that but who was this advertiser and what was he doing for the money?

Was he pushing something on his programme without saying it was paid advertising?

Tomorrow de Joe Duffy Show will be doing the monthly 'Funny Friday*' show where Joe and his 'comedic mates' (excluding former comedic mate Sil Fox) have their comedy show, this time in the 4 star Titanic Hotel in Belfast.

*On the Liveline thread we usually issue a warning not to tune in on a Funny Friday as it's as funny as throat cancer.

Indeed. Did he do anything. Has the look of bookkeeping trickery.

Just looking at the 6 o'clock news. Jesus this stinks to high heaven.

Is it likely that we see the DGs resignation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 819 ✭✭✭alzer100

Should they be doing anything "comedic" from the Titanic hotel, like considering...

Tubs won't be presenting tomorrow's radio show apparently.

    Could be several casualties.

Adrian Lynch now deputy director general ! He was Director for Audiences, Marketing and channels (though the article puts him as control of RTÉ1 and 2 but he hasn't been that for at least 3 years now).

What has been uncovered here is criminal, end of story.

RTE knowingly, and intentionally, told a sponsor / advertiser to pay Tubs, and then gave the sponsor / advertiser a credit note, in return for payments made to Tubs.

Not only is that a deliberate attempt to disguise what our publically owned state broadcaster paid Tubs, but it's also a dishonest redirection of funds that are ultimately owned by all of us, and should have been paid into RTE, to help find it !

This must end in a criminal prosecution, and see people found guilty and punished, end of story!

The Government politicans will need to be put under massive pressure, by all of us, to take action, and ensure Justice is served here - as we all know that's the last thing they'll want to do, given how much RTE helps us out Government spin.

    Thanks,

    G.

Precisely. Very convenient that the RTE Board acted "swiftly" but could only release their findings just after the current DG has disappeared for good - and the looming Dail recess. Most we can hope for is some mid-level RTE crony (akin to ABP's Paul Hyde) being offered up as a sacrifice. Sher it's only 300k of taxpayer's money, nothing to see here, move on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,634 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Also how far back does this go, because if it goes back to 2015 and 2016, Kevin Bakhurst as the then Head of News / Deputy DG will as soon as he enters the role need to answer some questions and it could lead to him leaving the role !

Just as an aside, what is Forbes next gig after RTE?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,634 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Nothing, she's about 63, she's had a cushy number in RTÉ, she did very little as we have all see. You never heard of her before joining RTÉ you will now never hear of her again.

    Yes, I thought so.

But hang on, now this is all I know, she did turn off the radio DAB network and saved a couple of grand in power consumption and maintenance costs. But then Ryan ended up getting at least something like 150k which in my view kind of offset that.

Good luck to her on her future endeavors in doing nothing!!!
