He was found innocent, wow he is slipping. I suppose he has time yet to rectify that though.

Like the time he bussed a load of supporters out to hear him talk, and then f*cked off and left them stranded in the rain with no way to get home

Trump took legal advice from a Sovereign Free man of the land and made it the core of what he believes is a magical no crime formula.

Rather than the former attorney general of Florida who was paid a $3million fee advance. As well as ignoring the legal advice of every other criminal defence attorney hired both those he paid and those he stuffed😉

Basically, after jettisoning Bannon, Trump turned to the American Ben Gilroy🤦

No you misunderstand, it’s all because of Biden, the FBI and the corrupt DOJ. Did you not get the memo? Nothing is ever Trumps fault.

you can easily imagine his then lawyers and everyone else in the GOP screaming to themselves "shut the **** up!!" every time he goes on TV or online and starts digging himself in deeper.

They must be tearing their hair out lol

Ah no, this is Trump showing his high levels of integrity and honesty. He realised that he would be using money that had been donated to support his campaign and pay his legal bills and therefore it would not be right to spend it on food. Also he realised that the crush in the cafe was stopping customers getting to the counter, so in a demonstration of his thoughtfulness and consideration for the cafe owners he moved on.

    Pretty deplorable.

We all know what Trump is like.

That doesn't mean that the Democrats should be weaponising the DOJ and other Government bodies to try and derail his 2024 Presidential bid though.

They should be better than that.

Trump can't win the election because he doesnt appeal to moderate Independents, and these are the people who will decide the swing states.

They are only putting petrol on the flames, there is no need for it.

There is going to be another 18 months of this circus and I'm sick of listening to it to be honest.

Trump needs to disappear from the limelight, his time has passed but he wont.

Likewise Biden needs to not run again, he is too old and fading fast.

Let some younger blood in, someone with talent.

But we know this isnt going to happen, instead its going to be 18 months of watching two geriatrics slug it out.

Its a terrible indictment of US politics, its ludicrous.

    Let's break this answer down.

    Pretty deplorable. - Agreed

We all know what Trump is like.- We do, which makes it puzzling why anyone would support him.

That doesn't mean that the Democrats should be weaponising the DOJ and other Government bodies to try and derail his 2024 Presidential bid though. - They aren't weaponising it. He was indicted by a grand jury convened in his own back yard. Trump committed crimes, no one is above the law. If he is innocent (spoiler alert - he is not) then it'll work itself out. Heaven knows he has enough resources to defend himself.

They should be better than that. - They are. Weaponising the DOJ is interferring with your friends' trials (Flynn & Stone) and manufacturing issues and launching investigations of your foes (see Durham). I don't recall you commenting on these at the time.

Trump can't win the election because he doesnt appeal to moderate Independents, and these are the people who will decide the swing states. - Agreed

They are only putting petrol on the flames, there is no need for it. - No they aren't. Do you think him being prosecuted will win his swing voters? Surely not.

There is going to be another 18 months of this circus and I'm sick of listening to it to be honest. - It's not a circus - Unfortunately, it is an absolutely necessary step in America preserving its democracy.

Trump needs to disappear from the limelight, his time has passed but he wont. - Well, whose fault is that? Perhaps those that excused every eggregious act over the last 7 years? who told him he was the brightest one in the room, who lavished praise on him? Now - who might that be?

Likewise Biden needs to not run again, he is too old and fading fast. - He is the incumbent president doing a fantastic job. Why shouldn't he?

Let some younger blood in, someone with talent. - there is no one ready at the moment. Wait until Joe's next tenure is over.

But we know this isnt going to happen, instead its going to be 18 months of watching two geriatrics slug it out. - It's American politics. It is "opt-in" topic.

Its a terrible indictment of US politics, its ludicrous. - Trump never should have been anywhere near the WH. What is happening now is the chickens coming home to roost for those who attached themselves to his coattails. It's gonna be a bloodbath among the GOP, one entirely of their own making and i cannot wait to see it.

No one is weaponising the DOJ. They are trying to get a criminal conviction against someone for breaking the law. That is what they do.

People should not be allowed break the law just because they are politically active. As you say we have known what Trump is for a while, part of that is his assumption that rules don't apply to him.

It is always the same. The right will tell everyone that racism doesn't exist, that minorities are treated like everyone else, that special treatment doesn't exists within America. But as soon as something happens to one of their own then they are only too happy to call out the legal system for being completely corrupt and targeting their particular group.

What's missing from your post - well there's lots missing plus half truths, misrepresentations and misinformation - is any awareness or acknowledgement that Trump actually committed the crimes. Trump has demonstrated brazen contempt for the law and democracy. You cannot carry on like that and expect is not to impact your political standing. Should politicians get a free pass because they are running for office? Be above the law? Nope.

There has to be consequences to what Trump has done.

If Trump committed the crimes, he must do the 'time' *

    * In the sense of facing consequences for them.

Is that potentially defamatory or does Trump have proof that will stand up in court that Biden is corrupt and Jack Smith is deranged?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,994 ✭✭✭✭ohnonotgmail

In the US probably not enough to be defamatory. Normally requires specific allegations like the Depp/Heard case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,758 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

And ironically the reality is that it is Trump who is both deranged and corrupt. Projection.

I mean if it is a solution that everyone would be happy with then he doesn't even need to be president. Just suggest it and the two sides will obviously make the required moved to make themselves happy with this deal. Especially as both sides seem to be pretty miserable about the war ongoing.

He wouldn't lie about something like this would he?

Its the blackmail that gets me. “I could stop it, IF I was president…”

Goddamnit man, you’re an ex-president with an undeserved HUGE amount of power and sway. If you say you could stop it in 24 hours, do it. Or just shut the hell up.

I swear to God, there's slugs in my garden with more intelligence than Trump and his core voter. You'd want to be incredibly stupid to believe a word that the man says.

Rick Wilson/Lincoln Party really love what they do: whisper campaigns against Donald Trump

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

    You already said it.

Like what, could he not have done that while he was shaking down Zelensky and blackmailing him for military aid? He had the full powers of the presidency for well over a year and a half left at that point.

Love to hold this up though, it completely undermines the 'party of law and order' and I'm sure we'll hear it brought up every 5 minutes at future "weaponization of the government" hearings in the GOP controlled House.
