Delighted to see it going well for Basquel. Haa worked hard this year to get back into panel. Hopefully he can keep it going.

Not a bad win with the players available I suppose but we should have been punished at the back on a few occasions especially in the first half .Not for the first time since his return but Stevo's kickouts were poor on a few occasions and we would have shipped scores directly against a better team . Nothing I have seen so far would give me much optimism for later on but hope am well wrong on that .

He's added a bit of steel to his game this year. Definitely playing with more intensity and it suits him.

Well it can't be the ref this stime round. He'd want to have some neck to try pull that one for today.

Kilkenny is too near Dublin. Game should've been played on the Aran Islands. Kildare would've won then.

So we have to beat Sligo by at least two more points than the Rossies who will be expected to beat Kildare to top the group.

Anyone any inkling where/when the Sligo match will be on.

They must think we’ve nothing else to be doing.

Thought would be Cavan then heard it will be Tullamore or Longford. Ridiculous leaving so late to announce.

Great comeback from our minor footballers to beat Cork at the death. 2-12 v 0-12 behind with 10 minutes left but rattled off six points in a row before the match winning goal sank the rebels. Would be nice to go on and win this as we've only won 4 All Irelands since 1960 which is a poor return for a county as strong at football as us.

Some turn around alright, can easily happen in underage games but Cork must be sick

Edit: just saw the incident towards the end where Cork should have had a free in 20m from goal but ref gave a free out and Dublin went up to get the levelling point (edit). You'd be livid if you were from Cork

Some Cork posters are unhappy with a couple of decisions near the end. They have a valid point on one definately but there was a couple of soft frees given to them in first half. The fact is Cork let a six point lead slip and lost by three in the last 10 mins + 6 mins injury time. That's a nine point swing. Dublin never gave up and imo deserved the win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,201 ✭✭✭blowitupref

Yeah right in front of the ref not sure how a free in wasn't given to Cork. Not sure where all the added time came from? heart went out to the Cork number 2 Niall O'Shea a costly mistake that cost his county a semi final place.

Soft frees happen, for both teams.

However, the fact is Cork were a point up in the 64th minute when a Cork forward was Very Blatantly dragged down, 20 yards from goal dead centre. Arm around the neck and dragged down. Guaranteed black card. Not a soft free, but an inexcusable decision not to award a free to Cork. That would have been a tap over for a 2 point lead with less than 2 injury minutes to go - no idea how 6 mins inj time came about either, ref played on several times when players were receiving treatment.

Over riding feeling was of being robbed - that decision was simply ridiculous.

Yes Dublin came back very well and Cork didn't score for around 25 minutes of the second half - however, that free not being given won the game for Dublin i think.

Yeah an awful mistake for the goal, but the game was going to ET at that point and the way both teams were playing you would have backed Dublin to win in ET I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,491 ✭✭✭Gael85

Cork right to feel aggrieved at not getting a couple frees at the end but all the injury time was justified. Long stoppage for Cork penalty and when Dublin FF fouled Curley fouled Cork defender. On top of that a number of Cork players going down with cramp. We will need a huge improvement the next day. Paddy Curry was Dublin best player

I agree Cork could have had a Free near the end, but got some very very soft frees in the first half. But there you go ye can't beat an oul moan about the Ref in GAA. Dublin far better team in 2nd half and if it had gone to ET I think still would have won.

Comerford and Murchan back for Sunday, Murchan in the team and Comerford on the bench.

If David o hanlon has no injury he must be feeling pretty disappointed to be maybe third choice after a decent enough league .I know it is proberly Stevo's last season but he still must be a bit put out .

Especially as this season is most likely our best chance over the next couple at least to win out .Would expect us to drop a bit further after this one .

Dublin behind at half time against Carlow, the hurlers are so inconsistent, just don't seem to be able to put decent performances back to back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,640 ✭✭✭✭JRant

Missed it entirely today. How did we play? I was fairly shocked to see us behind at halftime being honest.

Where’s best to head for when parking later?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,238 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I didn't watch it either assumed like an eejit that Dublin would prove way too strong even if Carlow gave it a bit of a rattle early on, worst case scenario.

    But in this report -

'The visitors were expected to win and win handsomely. Victory was achieved but the ten-point winning margin at the end was flattering.'

'With eight minutes to go, Carlow trailed by two.'

'With time ebbing away Dublin got a run on their opponents, scoring 1-06 to Carlow’s only point.'

    --

Basically a get out of jail type job. The only positives seem to be that Dublin didn't lose, plus Clare might be overconfident after looking at it.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

'Bad' Dublin so far v Sligo...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,277 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

The goal has sugar coated the score Dublin playing awful. So much mistakes being made making Sligo look like a team ffs.

All I'm hearing is Dublin need to go up the gears.. Do they have them anymore ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,238 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I am not watching it so depending on updates. If this is the first one I am worried. It was pointed out to me that points difference could be crucial for topping the group.

6 points up starting to improve a bit obvious Sligo aren't the best going forward to be nice about it but where giving them time to play.
