I'm a Liverpool supporter and my dad is a Man City supporter. He was looking to maybe go to Liverpool v Man City as he said he would love to sample the atmosphere. I told him he had no chance of getting a ticket. He said lets see if we can get Man City tickets (this was in mid August), had a look on the man city website barring about 5 or 6 matches, there were lots of tickets available for lots of home games... all we had to do was become a member and then go ahead and buy the tickets (membership was around £35 and the match ticket - we went to Southampton was about the same if i remember correctly. We literally could have went to a dozen games or so.

Stadium is nice and new, bands playing, decent food and drink options - just full of foreign fans including ourselves, no atmosphere at all, didnt look that full - attendance stated was around 53365.... Some lad in front of me with a peak cap turned backways and then putting his hand over his forehead to shield his eyes from the Sun lol

Will probably go again this year.... Cheap tickets, cheap flights and accommodation....Wouldnt have been able to get the same price to go to Liverpool..

What would everyone have as their own team of the season?

I think there is a few nailed on players that should be in everyone's but I'm just interested to see how the rest is fleshed out. I think the 3rd midfielder spot is very tricky as there is no standout and a few in the same boat and hard to pick between. To a lesser extent the 3rd forward spot is like this too.

    I'll go with

    Alisson

    Trippier Saliba Ake Estupinan

    Odegaard KDB Guimares

    Salah Haaland Kane

I haven't watched as many games this season but my stab would be

    Alisson

    Tripper, Botman, Saliba, Estupinan

    Silva, Rodri, Odengard

    Salah, Haaland, Kane

I'd find it hard to drop Salah but if I'd to leave him out to get Kane off the LF spot I'd go.

    Alisson

    Tripper, Botman, Saliba, Estupinan

    Rodri

    Silva, KDB, Odengard

    Halaand, Kane

Some players who would have made my team two months ago or who would have been very hard to ignore - Martenelli, Rashford and Saka. They miss out on both my teams because their form seemed to drop off in the closing stages of the season.

Some players who have had very good seasons and could also be considered but just fell short for me - Marteniz, Konate, Rice, Cacadio, Mac Allister, Gumineris, Mitoma, Olise, Grealish and Toney.

Anyone else think that Anthony Gordan could be a real turkey of a signing?

Really need the VAR discussion to be available in real time, at least we could hear their logic in dealing with some of the decisions such as that tackle by Bruno; is it out of control, reckless, endangering an opponent - yes to all three so ........

and no yellow for a pull back. why cant they adhere to their own rules?

So back in august there was tickets available for all but 6 games? Those 6 likely last game of season, united, liverpool and a couple of others. So you are confirming what I said?

Did you try get tickets the week of any games? I assume not. Nothing you have said contradicts what I said. I agree if you pick in August, sign up for membership you can get a ticket for none of the big matches as they require booking history of which they have been increasing year on year(due to demand) so yeah you could pick up tickets then.

I am also not sure the tickets are any cheaper at City for league games than any any of the other clubs but thats besides the point.

Leicester have done ok this half but I doubt they’ll be able to defend for 90 minutes without Newcastle scoring. I wonder what Dean Smiths mindset is, would they be happy with a point and take a chance on Everton dropping points Sunday?Sooner or later we’ll see Maddison and Barnes on but will it be to protect a point or try to get the win.

I would say that for most of the big PL teams teams there's no way you can even just become a member and just purchase tickets for near a dozen games without ticket history, even the crap teams.....seems a bit mad to be honest... who goes looking for tickets and expects to get a ticket the week of a game for a top PL team? Regarding the pricing, the price of the ticket was £35/42 euro..... not sure what the prices are for other teams. I did notice that at the time that hospitality tickets were more expensive for man city games....

With all the talk of Man U and a possible move for Harry Kane, I can't understand why Newcastle are not all over that move.

England's #9, offer of Champions league and a chance at big honors over the next 2 to 3 years (how many years more has Kane left?), can afford big wages, a year left on his contract so Spurs would be tempted to cash in now, and would weaken Spurs and United as well as strengthening Newcastle themselves.

I don't understand why they're not all over it.

They spent huge money on Iask last summer so probably looking at other areas to spend money first?

Would he replace him, or Wilson? I'd imagine Wilson. Wilson would be a good back up, but unlikely to okay 40 to 50 odd games a season given his injury record.

No, and even in this world lacking loyalty, I think it's amazing to ditch your boyhood club during a relegation battle literally a year/18 months in.

Some of his celebrations at Goodison were low.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,033 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Fair play to that Newcastle team, I think they're pretty dirty but as a unit, a competitive unit, they've been excellent.

No crazy spending just yet either.

However, you do fear this begins a dynasty. Alot of the lads may well be replaced too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,754 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Nah the Everton fans gave him dogs abuse while he was there so the celebrations were actually justified.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,033 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Even the downing tools for the move. Thought it was awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,188 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Great last day in store for the relegation places, all 3 have winnable home games against teams playing for nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,675 ✭✭✭doc_17

They’ve spent £185m in the last season alone. They might spend it again this summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,781 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

£255 million met spend sice the takeover according to this article.

I think it's safe to assume that's just transfer fees and wages haven't been taken into account, judging where City lie in the table.
