Should be Chef tomato ketchup not Heinz.

By definition it's not a Full IRISH if you include Cumberland sausage.

As for having Lucozade with it....enough said.

Each to their own, proper Irish fry for me is frying steak mushrooms egg bacon x2 pork sausages x3 half a soda 2 potato breads and 1 maybe 2 crumpets and either HP or daddys sauce and black coffee. The meat section has to be from the local butchers and the eggs must be free range. Soda and potato bread from the bakers, crumpets doesn't matter much because the secret to a good fried crumpet/pancake is giving it a slightly over-cooking by 10-20 seconds.

Egg cold pan cold oil crack the egg and let it get to cooking temp from the hob used for the main ingredients, spoon the oil over the yolk and once it ready for turning flip it over and just give it 30 seconds then off the hob. Pat the lot dry with kitchen towel. Thats more of a full fry saturday dinner, fry breakfast is a full bacon n egg soda.

+1 on a Cumberland sausage not belonging in an IRISH breakfast.

(Hint: the clue is in the name).

It also requires tea or coffee (either are acceptable). Soft drinks DO NOT belong with any fried breakfast.

I'd also add fried or grilled mushrooms, and some hash browns for personal preference.

Jumbo sausages, white puddings, hash browns, bachelor baked beans, fried onions, fried mushrooms, fried tomatoes, chef ketchup, toast, tea, and orange juice 🥰 for a breakfast roll it's sausages, white puddings and hash browns with ketchup, tea and OJ with pulp which I had this morning 🥰 rashers are too much work trying to take the fat off them and I know you can get lean rashers but I'm just not that bothered

    2 x black puddings, 2 x white.

Fried tomatoes (not a fan of them myself, but I know some are)

**** yer lucozade - hot steaming mug of tea, splash of milk, one sugar.

I remeber Bewley's used to substtiute items - if you didn't want something, they'd give you an extra of something else.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

There's something about if there's beans it becomes an English breakfast?

In any case I like beans with the breakfast.

Every country has this as their own. Here, it is the full Irish, in Belfast, the Ulster Fry. In London, they gave me the full English.

Are their regional differences or is it basically the same everywhere?

I think it's really down to personal choice.

But a Full English must have lashings and lashings of beans.

Im offended by Heinz baked beans!

Bachelors have some flavour at least!

Beans are for an evening fry. Not right for breakfast.

They're just a cheap filler anyway.

Beans are fücking rank and have no place in a fry.

If you're having jam and lucozade with your fry, I'd say your next meal is probably heroin.

    Thats a very unhealthy breakfast.

is it a fried breakfast if the items are in a baguette?

cos lad in fairness a cold lucozade with a breakfast roll is pure daycent

Nothing beats a good cup of tea or coffee after a nice fry. Not sure about Lucozade though.

Are Heinz baked beans English? For an Irish breakfast? How about Batchelors for authenticity?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,865 ✭✭✭✭Grayson

I hate beans, mushrooms and fried eggs. So I have the eggs scrambled and have a plate full of meat :)

I thought a big mug of strong tay would be de rigeur?

Rashers, 3 sausages, black pudding, white pudding, fried egg, fried tomato, sautéed mushrooms, a few toast, real butter, scrambled egg or beans on the side as an extra (I go for the scrambled egg). Orange juice or milk to wash it down.

You'd be sorted for the day.

Clonakilty anything - disgusting rubbish. If,needing jam on toast then not eating enough meat.Cumberland recipe not Irish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,934 ✭✭✭✭EmmetSpiceland

Never understood the need to pepper a breakfast fry plate with fruit & veg or, even, childish ketchup.

Should be all about the meat, and eggs, with a bit of brown sauce.

Yes, a thousand times. Heinz is muck. Wouldn’t touch their ketchup or beans. Bachelors every time.
