Broadband set up advice needed.

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum.

I was asked to set up the new Broadband at work. I've done this in the past.

I've connected the DSL wire, the LANs that were needed and the power cable.

I've reset it, moved the modem, used a different DSL cable.

As far as I know we're just using simple broadband and not the one that requires the WAN cable.

Devices can pick up WiFi but it says there's no Internet available.

My manager contacted the service provider and did that they could detect no issues.

Anybody here can help me?

On the front there should be some lights. Is the DSL light blinking or steady?

I've a power light that's steady.

Internet light that's flashing white. Occasionally it might turn red.

That's there's a place for a phone and mobile. No lights on here.

Then there's one that says broadband and that's steady all the time.

I see no mention of DSL anywhere.

check the dsl connection at both ends and make sure its in the right socket on the wall

A flashing light means there isn't a conection. Can you tell me the make and model of your router? Also, which Internet Service Provider(ISP)?

A steady broadband light but flashing Internet light suggests to me you have DSL sync(which is good), but there is an internet setting which is incorrect. You mentioned you reset it?

long dsl wires can slow connections .

i had an issue where dsl would drop out for periods , it turned out the internal wiring to the connection box was old and faulty and it needed to be rewired ny open aeir

It's a Vodafone Gigabox Modem.

I pressed the reset button with a pin.

Yes, there is a very long required but I tried a shorter wire and still had the same issue.

The broadband light is steady, so it has DSL sync.

I'll say it now, I suspect this is a DNS issue.

I login periodically to change passwords for own and guest WI-FI, though I don’t think there are many hackers among my very good neighbours 😂

I remember moving into my apartment first and neighbouring networks were unsecured so I piggybacked before getting setuP myself.

Just to note I've a mobile Dongle at home and I'm bringing this to work with me to run the till off of and there's no issues.

That’s not running off your work internet but it’s using your own data, presumably. Hopefully you’ll troubleshoot without calling in added help. There’s usually a very simple answer to these things.

I think we should have Fiber but we're only using DSL connection if that makes sense.

Do you have the 2 white boxes in the wall. If it’s fibre to the house these are required. Is the router maybe set up for fibre but ye are on dsl if you get me.

Tried that and still wasn't able to log on.

It appears you’ve no internet connection if you can’t log in to your router. Had a very busy day so not putting my mind to it atm, but another head (not focussed on Eurovision 🤣) will lend a brain cell or two, hopefully! You’ll get sorting it.

you dont need internet to connect to wifi bridhe of modem just connect to wifi - looks like a modem failure to me

I would pay attention to the very basics. Looking at a picture you posted above, the DSL connection looks a bit strained. Just make sure it’s ok there.

Thanks @[Deleted User] I did think the DSL connection could have been an issue but I tried a new cable and still had the same issue.

I'll be looking at again Tomorrow. Feeling like an idiot because it's probably something I'm doing wrong.
