To put this into more context I was watching CNN where Alyssa Farah Griffin & Stephanie Grisholm both during different segments spoke about Trump's predatory behaviour while in office.

Grisholm went as far as saying there was a particular staffer who she actively had to move and reassign especially on foreign trips so that she would not be left alone with Trump. Going as far as saying he specifically requested for the staffer to be called into him so he and others could look at her behind. Grisholm alleges she reported this to Mark Meadows and other Chiefs of Staff but she does not know if anything was actually done.

She also alleges this was common knowledge throughout the administration.

If I can find the clips I will post them.

You're coming at it from a perspective that I have a side and jumping to some wild conclusions based on this fact. I have no hound in this hunt and couldn't care less about Trump. As Overheal rightly points out, he was probably found liable for sexual battery based on the deposition video where he answered questions about his "grab them by the pussy" comments. I didn't hear anything during the case coverage that directly linked him to doing it in this case but who knows what was said in the courtroom.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I always find it amazing that in the normal run of events, normal trials, everybody accepts that while errors can happen a certain level of trust and confidence is inherent in the outcome of trials.

yet when it comes to some, especially Trump and his supporters, unless they have personally reviewed not only the transcript of the trial, but any jury deliberations, then everything must be treated as if even though the case has gone through the normal legal process in this particular instance the result must be viewed with suspicion and no one should really read too much into it.

let’s remember, Trump is an example extremely wealthy and powerful individual, with serious connections. He is well versed in using the legal system to his advantage and yet despite his every attempt to shut this down, not only did the case go ahead but he has lost it, and lost badly.

CNN have a fantastic chance to redeem themselves.

Follow-up questions, nail sh1t down, put him to the pin of his fake-tanned collar.

    I have little hope however.

Remember the transcript of the call to Zylenski? The one that clearly outlines a blackmail for personal gain by trump yet him and his supporters call it 'a perfect phone call'

If you didn’t know what a low-life this lad was you’d be really thinking he was stitched up.

I'd say Trump would still very much want to do it and cry victimhood in front of viewers etc. He'll just respond to any questions on it like the video he posted last night.

I'd say it's his legal and political teams who will be desperate to stop him from doing it in case he says something which sinks them further, particularly if they're planning on appealing the E.Jean Carroll verdict.

Rape means penetration with the penis. She couldn't tell whether he used his finger or his penis (because his penis is so small), so the judge instructed the jury they could not find him liable for rape.

In a world where Fox News and OANN exist, why would CNN need to redeem themselves?

Jokes aside, you can have digital rape as a legal term

So New York is the absolute worse place for him to be put on trial?

Thought he could kill someone there and get away with it. 😕

    WITCH HUNT!!!

Over to meatball Ron, if it gets going it could be epic.

If Trump is removed somehow from the race, the republicans will be in a lot of trouble. I don't think Ron is going to attract many independents with his culture crusade and anti-choice rhetoric and actions.

Penetration by an object or digitally is not rape in New York it's sexual assault.

A charge of rape must include sexual intercourse.

I very much doubt Trump will attract many independents either.

You can probably whittle down the suburban house wives further now too.

No surprise, the GOP is a treble shít sandwich with extra shít, that's what happens when you let in the full blown crazies though.

Are the republicans still going to push trump for the presidency?

They must be the most “lack of standards” party anywhere on earth!

    Sadly you are correct.

The US legal definition of Rape is very very specific and explicitly requires "the penetration of a vagina with a penis" so all other kinds of heinous acts of sexual violence can only be tried under the lesser charges of sexual assault or sexual battery.

The current legal definition is tied to the archaic protection of the "legitimacy of heirs" in terms of inheritance etc.

If you were born of "rape" then you are an illegitimate heir, hence the extremely specific definition.

Another point is that the "survivors" law in NY allows for historic charges to be brought until November of this year - I wonder are there any others out there that might feel more inclined to come forward following this result??

Could he face further sexual assault charges?

I love this guy, everything new you read about him is just increasingly ludicrous, I honestly wouldn't put it past him to try send a body double to the court for the arraignment.

It's not a joke, she was unable to tell if he used his finger or his penis (because his penis is so small).

I didnt realise that that was a line of questioning in the trial. Who'd have thought having a choad could get you off a rape charge

This bloviating excuse for a human being is ranting about the verdict, about how New York (the place he made his money) hates him - any chance he could wonder why?

I'm sure he said some other stuff, but frankly I couldn't listen to the full clip and switched it off...

It's certainly interesting re: Trump (whose penis, legally, is very small).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,958 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

Too small to be considered as evidence anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,222 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Which is why I highlighted it. Trump wasn't found guilty of rape but he was found liable for battery and abuse - and that's what I suspect some of his supporters will focus on, highlighting the first part whilst trying to deliberately omit or dismiss the last.

The same happened to Alex Jones, when he was found liable for defamation, his supporters described him as "not being found guilty by a jury", because technically the cases went to a default judgement by a judge, not a jury. It's a similar type of spin mixed with pedantry.

Do you believe they introduced the Adult Survivors Act specifically in order to make Trump liable for sexual assault? A sexual assault which would still need to be proven to a jury in a court of law and so therefore there would still need to be sufficient evidence for. Do you honestly, actually believe, that they introduced an entire law to allow all adult victims of rape and sexual assault to sue their attackers in civil court even if the Statute of Limitations for criminal prosecution has passed, just to try and get Trump? A man already facing a multitude of different lawsuits and federal investigations which will have far more severe consequences under existing laws. A man who was already likely to be found liable for defamation in that case anyway which had been brought before the Adult Survivors Act was introduced (Bonus fun fact: The Act was initially introduced on January 6th 2021).

Do you actually believe that? You, someone who claims to not be a Trump supporter but is now peddling any possible conspiracy theory in order to come to his defence even though he has been found liable in a court of law for sexual assault?

Because if you do believe all of that, I have news for you; You are a Trump supporter. Full blown Trump Supporter.

He’s vile. How can a so called powerhouse of a democracy with all it has, end up with this thing as its leader… weird weird world.

As with everything in the US, that all depends on the jurisdiction. The actual federal statute defines it as "Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim." But as has been noted this was not a criminal trial, and it was not a federal trial.
