Have searched online for images of other people being given this traditional welcome on this pacific island and all that comes up are pictures of the queen, her husband, her grandson and his wife

    Funny that 🤔

most of the british public couldn't care a less whether she comes or not, they have actual issues to worry about.

they don't even care about the corrination, dispite all the rhetoric that will be posted by the likes of the daily mail to convince everyone that they do.

the most she would get is a few boos from the sleep out for days to pass a coffin brigade but that's it.

It’s a hell of a lot better than pseudo and faux concern for climate change whilst swanning around in private jets to play Polo - in fairness to William and Kate, for the last number of years they have least been seen to lead by example- using chartered flights as opposed to private jets or helicopters- unlike the b1tchy duo who think their lives are in danger and will only use billionaire Lear jets for a short hop to their PR appointment 😂😂😂😂😂

Ah now you cant call Spare and MeggyMeg hypocritical, thats racism I think.

My apologies, I meant to call them “complete bollox” (inclusive adjective) - sorry for that faux-pas- I’ll try harder in future, promise 🤪

I dunno - the British like a good moan-fest- watched Channel 4 news tonight- a predictable “alternative view” of the coronation on Saturday- reminded me of The Late Late Show misery slot they have had every week for years now- it’s apparently a sin to be seen to enjoy yourself this weekend whilst all of the worlds problems that have been present for decades, are still here.

Fck that- the British will be out in force on Saturday cheering their King- it’s not my King but I say fair dues to them - I will be watching the proceedings on TV too simply because I’ve watched many momentous RF events through the years- nothing more. And Meaghan? Yeah, she’d be welcomed by the British public……like they’d welcome an Argentinian proposing a name change to the Falkland Islands

chartered flights are more or less the same as using private jets.

if they were serious they would go on a normal flight but quite frankly i personally think that they shouldn't due to the disruption to the other passengers that would be caused.

as much as they try, they will never be down with their property (sorry i mean subjects)

the absolute cult like supporters of the monarchy will be out in force, but from what i am seeing via other outlets there is actually not a massive amount of interest among the general population apart from maybe watching it.

again, most of the british public don't care about meghan, whether she turned up or not wouldn't matter to them, it's just the cult like brigade who would have an issue.

Well I think there’s a dedicated British following- BUT, it’s greatly reduced compared to Queenie days of past- and that’s not even comparing coronations- I’d say it will achieve trooping of the colour or Queens birthday or whatever that early traditional Sunmer event was, level of numbers - you just can’t get excited about Charles and Camilla - I’ll be watching it but it’s more to see a live very rare Royal event - nothing more. Yes I’m a shameless royal watcher- but not necessarily a “fan”- but definitely I’ll be looking out for protests, thin on the ground crowds or small crowds mushed into small spaces to make them look large, and general yawn fest activities with few participants- and I’ll likely see all of the above on Saturday, more so than people celebrating.

Now Kate and William- that will be a proper romp

They do take normal flights. They flew BA to the US last year and they have taken commercial flights within the UK on multiple occasions.

That’s what I meant with the above comment- standard regular flights (maybe chartered is the wrong word?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,740 ✭✭✭ceadaoin.

Yes, I presumed that's what you meant. I think the queen used to charter flights using BA planes which is basically using that as a private jet. But, she was the queen, I think it's obvious why she didn't use commercial flights. William and Catherine have taken normal flights on multiple occasions

Bit harsh on Charlie given his big week ahead.

Nice try but Charles doesn’t play polo anymore🤪

He does pontificate about climate change. And as you brought it up.

You'd wonder what the footprint of this gross show of opulence will be, 1000s arriving by private jet just to witness Charles get the shiny pointy hat.

Now all together lets swear an oath to the billionaire hypocrite.

He’s done more to try and educate people on climate change for the last 35 years, way before it was popular to do so- David Attenborough is probably one of the only few people who has done more than Charles and from around the same time. But you know that- you’re just looking for a fight and to get a rise out of posters- but you won’t because we all know at this stage your MO and the fact your posts are total nonsense and so far from the truth it’s laughable

Yes, yes, do as I say not as I do.

So you want him using a horse and cart to get around the world? You can troll Charles all you wish on his efforts to further climate awareness and alternative energies etc but the fact remains this is the one thing he has been very good at throughout his working life and he’s well recognised and respected for these efforts by both the environmentalists and general public- it’s getting boring at this stage replying to your drivel- it’s completely uninformed fiction but I think you know that too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,595 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

I don't want him to do anything.

You are the one who brought up pontification and hypocrisy on climate change.

It’s a hell of a lot better than pseudo and faux concern for climate change whilst swanning around in private jets

But now bizarrely you are vehemently defending it. 🤷‍♂️

I must have switched to the Alternative Universe thread by mistake. I thought this thread was about Harry and Meehan’s carry on.

    We could have a chat about Travalyst, though. Here’s an excerpt from a Travel Weekly article about Travalyst, penned by their Editor-in-Chief;

I wrote at the time that the resulting report "was mostly bone and little meat." It lacked benchmarks and data-based guidelines to measure compliance. Subsequent meetings I attended became unfocused, diffused by the expression of too many points of view.

Are you being scarcastic about William's use of helicopters in particular 😂

In case you are not - https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=helicopter+flights+by+william/

And never explain comes in handy for this! I wonder where the 47 helicopter trips were to during lockdown?

Royal Family £15k minimum expenses rule masks 'mysterious' helicopter trips

ROYAL Family's annual expenditure report fails to itemise trips or expenses under £15,000, leaving 47 unexplained helicopter trips in 2020-21.

    By Holly Evans

The Royal Family's travel expenses are not listed in the annual reports if they cost below £15,000, as the recent accounts show that 47 helicopter trips were made during 2020-21 that are unexplained.

Then there was the dodgy PR stunt pulled by William & family organised by Simon Case where an empty Flybe plane had to fly to collect them!

Yeah, but that's worth doing 😃. It's a "compare and contrast" post. H&M are the epitome of hypocritical behaviour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,338 ✭✭✭✭jm08

So, what do you think of the 47 helicopter rides during lockdown? or Charles taking a helicopter ride even though it was 2 hours by car or William ignoring the Queen when he was told to stop using helicopters to transport her family. Her concern was that the heirs to the throne could be wiped out in a crash. Can you imagine the drama if Harry and Meghan ended up on the throne! Interesting part is that William ignored her and continued to fly with the family.

So lockdown lasted about 2 years- so that’s about 20 helicopter rides a year for the Royal family - wow , stop the press we have a scoop here- what’s your issue? And more so what has that got to do with the topic at hand- Harry and Meaghan? Sounds like you're trying to derail the thread yet again for the umpteenth time by bringing it off topic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,789 ✭✭✭Karppi

Luckily, they weren’t in a helicopter that had Captain Wales anywhere near the controls. That could have been involved in a removal of pieces from a chess board. In Call of Duty, I mean. Gimme a break!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,338 ✭✭✭✭jm08

It was one year (2020-21) if you read the article. And they were short helicopter rides which cost under £15,000. If they were over 15K, they would have to be itemised. They all seemingly were £14,999) so they would not have to be reported? There were other helicopter rides

The point has been made that Harry & Meghan are being hypocritical about climate change by using private jets, whereas William & Charles are major advocates of climate change (William has made Earth Shot one of his major campaigns), yet he continues to use a helicopter even though the Queen told him not to use it.

As for your comments about derailing the thread by comparing the behaviour of H&M with other royals - I'm a bit surprised that you think it is acceptable that this should be just a hate thread of Harry and Meghan. This isn't the Daily Mail/Sun you are posting on here.

Its telling that Harry apparently is only going to be at the ceremony itself and no other part. 5 years ago, it would have been a very different story.

Can understand Harry, if he had any sense he would have told his dad he would be there in the crowd outside the church waving him on but that it was clear he wasn't wanted at the ceremony. Release that to the public.
