Just wondering for Harry Styles at Slane in June do you book camping in advance?

No camping at the site, so you’d need to find a local campground, which may well be all booked up by now.

    Start looking for buses instead.

I stayed here for Metallica in 2019. Looks like there is still availability. It was great craic in the campsite for Metallica anyway, not sure what it'd be like for Harry Styles!

Made the Slane experience pretty good.

Agree on the Slane Farm Camping. Was there for Guns N Roses in 2017 and would never do Slane any other way now. Friday night session, then waking up to no traffic on the day of the gig (albeit to torrential rain that particular day).

+1 for Slane Farm Camping. Great craic. You pitch a tent beside your car. Stroll up to the village for some early pints before the gig!

Did the same for the foo fighters a few years back, the only way I would do slane again.

I've only ever camped at Slane. It's by far the best way to experience it.

That does sound good. Not going to Slane this year (No problem with Styles, just not me bag). But for future. I've only been a few times to Slane. Was always put off by the trip back but that sounds good.

Terrible line up this year, I just don’t get this Styles fella or any of the 1D plonkers. It’s a shame they didn’t get the Taylor Swift Era’s concert instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,001 ✭✭✭endainoz

Literally millions of young people are well mad about this Styles fella. Sign of old age I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,808 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

I guess it will be a teeny boppers version of Slane so this year, plus a couple thousand sad desperate women up to their mid/late 20s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,001 ✭✭✭endainoz

And wouldn't you only love to be in the middle of them.

She would be a great concert, but she doesn’t seem to branch away from the big stadium venues, be them indoors our outdoors. I can’t see her playing a big outdoors like Slane or Glastonbury, and maybe her set just isn’t suited to this type of venue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,435 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Production wise it would appear that stadiums (not outdoor fields) are where she will end up.

    especially a basin like Slane

She was supposed to play Slane before C-19 and I will eat my hat if she doesn't headline next Glasto.

Say what you want about Swift, she's ENORMOUS. Her demographic is actually more varied than you'd think. Especially lately as she worked with the guys from The National etc. The problem with her last concerts was that they put on 3 with late sales for the later shows.

I think she would sell out Slane in a heartbeat and would be a valid choice. However, as much as I said, her demographic is wider than you think, it still would skew younger and the bussing-to-from would probably deter a younger audience (Or deter their parents more like). As much as I would give my right arm to see Pearl Jam there, it's good for them to change it up every now and again. Have your rock, have your hiphop, have your pop, hell, have a little K-pop one-day thing (Once BTS are finished their national service 😀). Definitely not my cup of tea but there is an audience.

And, IMHO, it's not a terrible lineup for Slane.... It's just a terrible lineup for certain people (Like me). If they announced PJ and Metallica were gonna play support to Zeppelin (With Jason Bonham on drums), teenyboppers would think "Terrible lineup".

I'm just so very very very old...

I was at her first CP gig and there was a lot of empty seats. It just didn’t seem to be the same buzz that you see in her stadium shows in America, and it also didn’t seem to be same buzz as there was in CP in recent years for let’s say Coldplay and U2 (not their most recent one) gigs. She was unlucky with the weather, her gigs just happened to be in between 2 hot spells and it was bit cold with blustery rain for hers. But I agree, she is fantastic, and very beautiful!!

Their mistake at Croker was putting on two gigs. If they had left it at one gig, it would have been a sell-out with a huge buzz around people begging for tickets.

They misjudged demand/popularity and lost millions.

could affect whether she even plays ireland on the tour next year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,772 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

First sellout in years, not Metallica, Eminem or the foos managed. (Although Em came fairly close.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,001 ✭✭✭endainoz

Did GnR sell out slane? I remember the demand being fairly high.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,772 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

They might have TBF, I completely forgot they played there. I know Eminem was 74k, and that was the most attended in years, wouldn't be shocked if GnR got there or thereabouts.

(And of course sold out is subjective when it's a field)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 921 ✭✭✭Dontfadeaway

I’d say Taylor Swift already has Croke or Aviva booked for next year. She is bigger now than she was the last time she played. Her show will look **** in daylight though. The screens are a big part of her show, and she starts at 8pm so it will be bright for half the show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,557 ✭✭✭Zardoz

She wont play Slane as she is a greedy lady and wants to charge as much as she possibly can for seats and standing.

If she plays a stadium she can sell platinum, dynamic pricing, vip, etc etc , you cant do that in Slane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 395 ✭✭Suvarnabhumi

Has there been anything official about this? I know it's probably going to happen. I just want to tell my little girl 😁 , although she'll know before me! I'm dreading the thoughts of the scramble for tickets for this tour (and the prices).

You certainly can do that at Slane. It's been done there previously.
