The Riverdance of Sport! If Cian Lynch grew up in certain parts of Kerry or Dublin he'd be a great footballer.

Likewise if James McCarthy was from the Village in Kilkenny he'd be a great hurler. A lot is where you're born, not that one code is innately superior to the other.

    He annoyed me big time!

It was a good conversation in ways. But Cusack is fast becoming a Brolly. His crack 4 years ago about resistance to sweepers being residual vestiges of colonialism really showed what BS artist he is.

You wouldn't see 'traditional football teams' being protected from relegation like the hurling set ups - which is basically mind munster at all costs.

The difference with hurling v football is hurling has what a top 8/10 teams - four very good teams. But below that 8/10 hurling standard is very weak. In football there are lots of average/decent teams - below the top teams. Much more depth in football than there is in hurling. And it has been like that for what 50 years?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I'd like to tell Cusack that Michael Donnellan, Graham Geraghty, Maurice Fitzgerald, Peter Canavan, Diarmuid Connolly etc played a proud gaelic game at a level he, and most of his teammates, could only dream of.

Jeysus lads some hurling people especially Munster ones can get over the top when it comes to the game but ye are doing a fair job living up to the stereotype football fans the way ye are losing yere shte about what one hurling lad known for spouting said on the TV.

The greatest hurling evangelist i met was a mad Russian poet who was fascinated with the game and wanted to promote it on a worldwide basis. Originally met me in my place of work. Her name is Mary Duniyva. She launched a High Court objection to the Dublin spire as she wanted her design used, she's a sculpture too. She wanted to paint me in a pair of shorts, no top, with a hurl in a 'Swan Lake' pose! Plagued me ringing work for 2 years and arrived in work a few times. This was 10 years ago.

If you google her you'll find more about her.

Not at all. I'd say the same if Brolly was going on in the same way about football.

Ide say there has always been way more depth to football never mind 50 years.

It's funny though that Munster fans are actually really split between ones like myself who like the provincials and ones who think it is unfair on Munster teams.

The truth about all sport is that most people will play whatever it is that's the big thing in their area. Hurling in reality is a sport confined to a little corner of the country and nothing will ever change that. It's neither an indication of the sport itself being good or bad. Look at the "global game" of soccer, I love it but it's really not as great as it's popularity merits when you break the game down.

Soccer is without doubt the most skilful game. And those who reach the top do so out of colossal numbers. Not a few parishes.

I think Galway will win by 2 to 4 points (have a very good record in Dr Hyde) but if they are to blitz Roscommon tomorrow for me it will say more about the home side and how they went about their business on the day especially defensively and getting match ups wrong. Regardless the standard in Connacht is fairly high just now the highest it's been since the early 00s.

Gooch jeans and plaid shirt looks like he's going line dancing 😅

If it's wet I fancy Rossies. Seem to have won recent Connacht titles on wet days.

Louth who finished 3rd in Div 2 I think was pretty much in the All Ireland group stage. Kildare and Meath still sweating it out.

Realistically there are just two teams outside Div 1 and 2 that can still make the Sam Maguire.

Down and Offaly. I'm excluding Wicklow and Laois because they are on the same side of the draw as Dublin.

So your 16 for the Sam Maguire looks like this as of today.

    Sligo

    Clare

    Westmeath

    Mayo

    Galway

    Roscommon

    Tyrone

    Kerry

    Monaghan

    Armagh

    Donegal

    Dublin

    Derry

    Louth

    Cork

    Kildare

If anyone of Meath, Offaly or Down get to a provincial final and Kildare don't, they bump Kildare off the list.

If Meath/Offaly and Down get to a provincial final then Cork and Kildare are off the list (assuming Kildare don't get to a provincial final).

Getting ready to hit for Dr Cullen Park shortly more in hope than in anticipation all is set up for an ambush. Feels very similar to the infamous Carlow defeat in 2018.

Down vs Donegal…. Neither of these will be collecting Sam come September…

halftime and the first half played in almost perfect conditions and only 10 scores.

    1-04 vs 1-04

    Cracking goal from Down though

Amazing how far Donegal have fallen - with Murphy they had three players in one and always within some chance of Sam.

Now it just crumbled. They are the only team since Cork that have crumbled so fast from great heights. Dublin could be next though!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    Some comeback from Louth

Down look like they'll hold on now, enjoyable enough game

The missed mark was really poor at this level from Gough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,554 ✭✭✭✭cson

And another nailed on mark missed by Gough ffs.

Did the ball travel over 20 for either of those kicks - I wouldn't be so sure?

Pgug allowing a lot of off the ball stuff for Galway, especially screening th kicker. The point Comer scored when McHugh took Daly out was hilarious.

Roscommon passive in attack - we've had good third quarters in the league so let's see.... Both Smiths anonymous so far.
