Five points down, a man down, great comeback, while there was a bit of luck for the goal, it would give you hope for the future, although that might be a bad thing.

Well done Sligo, never over till it's over.

Brutal game and not a great standard but great win for Sligo.

Didn't go to the match tonight.

Listening to it on the radio, sounds pretty exciting!

Sligo hang on to win 3-15 to 2-16.

I was cynical about the Tailteann Cup, but games like that will bring the team on, I won't be devastated if they get knocked out, but I hope they can get a few more games to help improve and maybe have something to build on next year.

Big game for the Celtic Challenge (U17) hurlers this Saturday in Markievicz. After losing to Mayo in the first round, beating Tyrone, Donegal, Leitrim and Meath Royals, they take on Mayo again in the final with throw in at 12pm. Entry is free.

All of the other Celtic Challenge finals are on in Abbottstown on Saturday but Sligo/ Mayo decided to toss for home advantage (and the good guys won 😁)

(not all matches in Abbottstown as was original plan...)

The work Sligo are doing at underage continues to impress.  Summerhill Sligo reached Hogan cup final beating St Brendans Killarney by 3 points this afternoon. First Sligo school to reach the All Ireland final for nearly 40 years!

    Underage success continues for Sligo.

    2023 - U20 Connacht Champions

    - (back-to-back champions)

    2023 - Summerhill College

    - (first Hogan Cup final since ‘85)

    2022 - U20 Connacht Champions

    - (first title ever at u20/21s level)

    2021 - Minor Connacht Champions

    - (first title in 53 years)

Be interesting to see can they build on it at senior level, no reason why they can't be Div 2 senior team in the next 4 or 5 years when you consider how long Clare held their own in Div 2 and Louth finished 3rd this year.

Sligo U20s won Connacht beating Galway,Mayo and Roscommon and today into the All Ireland final by beating Kerry. Serious work they are doing at underage and example to any smaller county to what can be achieved.

What is wrong with the GAA?

Having the u20 final in Cavan when surely Longforg or Mullingar would be more suitable venues even if they are in Leinster.

No good road to Cavan from Sligo or Kildare.

Cavan is a bigger ground, no need for hassle about tickets, and is somewhat nearer Sligo than Kildare (towns). The road is not that bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 464 ✭✭northknife

I get the bigger ground, but it will hardly be a sell out??

The road isn't the best either apart from the M3 part.

The All Ireland U20 semi final between the two was in Cavan last year no real surprise the same venue is chosen for the final next Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,384 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

I’m surprised it is in Cavan at 2.45 given that Cavan & Laois play at 4.45.

    That was completely sickening.

Hope is the worst f*cking thing in the world, Galway were a bit arrogant but should have hung on.

With things going well at underage and that performance today, the future at least is looking up.

Absolute robbery. Galway never led until the goal. If Sligo continue to kick scores in future games, as they did today, they'll test plenty others.

Hard luck Sligo from a Galway supporter. Wasn't at it but listened on rte radio. Sligo deserved it, Galway completely robbed it. Must be so disappointing.
