They have that winning mentality having done it on numerous occasions now. This Arsenal team has not been in the position of challenging for the title before. That counts for a lot.

The last time Arsenal lost was in the tie against Manchester City. These are the form guides including that game.

Excluding that game - if getting more points than every other team in your league, bar one, is seen as "bottling" than this is bottling. But not for me.

I'm not sure a team has ever only dropped points in 5 games... just quickly looking back at the league tables that pop up automatically in google which go back to 14/15, no-one's managed that anyway. The best was 6, which City did twice, and Liverpool did once. Otherwise, most seasons its closer to 10 games without a win.

    14/15 - 12 games dropping points - Chelsea

    15/16 - 15 - Leicester

    16/17 - 8 - Chelsea

    17/18 - 6 - MC

    18/19 - 6 - MC

    19/20 - 6 - Liverpool

    20/21 - 11 - MC

    21/22 - 9 - MC

    22/23 - 8 - Arsenal, same as City in 2nd

Arsenal look on course for what is fairly normal, aside from the freakish (hyper-funded) City seasons, and that one unreal Liverpool year.

Nonsense this handball rule TAA clearly handles it madness.

What do people define as bottling?

Arsenal just lack experience, this bottling thing is absolute bollox. It takes absolute perfection in the run in to come up trumps against city. As a Liverpool fan I've watched us go on long runs, finish on 97 and 92 points and still come up short. City are relentless with a ridiculous squad, you can't compete.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,282 ✭✭✭fyfe79

Well, clearly elbows it anyway! Dodgy rule but it is what it is - accidental handballs are ok as long as they're not used to actually score goals. The only decision to be made there was did TAA deliberately or accidently handle it and considering the fact that the Leeds player booted it off him from a very short distance, VAR I think had to judge it accidental.

Carragher pretending that decision is up for debate. Absolutely blatant handball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,282 ✭✭✭fyfe79

Yep. Arsenal are on course for a points total which would win the league most seasons pre-City. All great teams of the past have dropped silly points here there and everywhere while winning titles. Not acceptable anymore it seems, and all because City's financial doping has changed the landscape. Liverpool have 3 x 90+ seasons to their name recently yet only one title, and then you have professional trolls like Roy Keane saying that Klopp hasn't won enough. It's a joke.

Fair play to Arsenal for making the PL competitive this year, and they still might win it, tbf.

Honestly, Premier League officiating doesn’t improve until people within football openly accept that it’s bad and needs fixing.

How did that offside take 2 or 3 minutes. His head was ahead of the defender

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭doc_17

Keane is just that - a professional troll. After Andy Robertson had his incident with the linesman Keane said “he’s got to stop being a baby” about Robertson approaching the linesman. The same Keane who nearly trampled all over the top of a ref who gave a penalty against Utd at Old Trafford.

Has any of them scored 100 points in one season. Only one team ever that are called Centurions, does that take away from the United, Arsenal or Liverpool .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,282 ✭✭✭fyfe79

I'm sure Keane knows what he's doing, but how sad? Such a great player, he could be a great pundit if he put his mind to it. But he'd rather troll and get his face on the Sky Sports youtube thumbnails for spouting sensationalist nonsense.

    Centurions*

*Built on base of financial doping.

If money was only thing needed there would be more teams on 100 points.

Also if you cant recognice the achievement without trying to belittling it ,you should not join the conversation .

I think there’s a really valid case for belittling City’s achievements. There’s actually a case being investigated about it right now that you may have missed.

And Michelle Smith still holds all those medals but nobody ever lauds her in Ireland or celebrates it 10, 20, 25 years on etc.

See I actually think fans of other teams should actually call City out on their cheating.

When anyone mentions City did this or City did that in terms of achievements then whoever responds should always point out the cheating their achievements were built on.

Excellent point. She's still officially Ireland's greatest ever Olympian by an absolute mile. Yet, when's the last time anyone has ever heard mention of her publicly? And this is Ireland - a country who celebrates "getting there" as if it's winning. The reason is obvious - everyone knows she was a massive cheat, so her 'official' titles mean nothing.

You go ahead and do that , its a nice project for you .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,036 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Would Carra make these points about Leeds having "a kid in goal with no presence who doesn't convince him" if he was English?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,758 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

I fear Leeds are in big trouble, I thought they might pull it off but they looked dreadful tonight...

The bottom 5 have lost again for the second set of games in a row. Bournemouth and Palace seem to have kicked on a bit.

    This was a 3 from 9 conversation, now looking like a 3 from 6.

Leeds United have let their goal difference plummet to -20, now almost as bad as Everton's.

The bookies say 1/12 Southampton, 2/7 Notts Forest, 1/1 Leicester, 11/10 Everton, 3/1 Leeds, 16/1 Bournemouth, 20/1 West Ham.

Three from five I reckon. Bournemouth probably have enough points already

Any chance the bottom 5 can be relegated, they're all as bad as each other. Leeds might actually stay up because Forest don't look like getting any points any time soon!

I reckon Leicester and Southampton are doomed so it'll be Forest, Leicester, Saints.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 258 ✭✭It is a Dunne Deal

Yeah it really looks like 3 from 5 now and the 2 who stay up will almost do it by default.

Yup it's hard to see beyond the current bottom 3 going down.

Another shocking decision at Ellend Road by Craig Pawson. You will not see a clearer handball than that for the opening goal. Pawson looking straight at it. Another useless referee.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...
