What? Your a Garda, you could be dealing with people you know all the time. You think we live in a bubble outside of communities? I'm stationed 4km. From my house. I deal with my neighbors, people I know from previously in my life, know my family or just people I have come to know from work. That's the job you are applying for.

Fyi though, you are unlikely to be stationed even remotely close to home unless you are from one of the main cities

Your last paragraph is all you’d to say, didn’t ask for your life story pal

Of that's a life story to you, you haven't lived long. However, as a person who appeared to ask a question about it, I gave an example to illustrate the reality of the job you appear to want.

Its your county not town so you could easily ask for a different station, but I think the reason its at home is due to training wage and cost of living etc

Anyone do the interview recently? How did you find it and was there any questions that caught you by surprise? Thanks.

Well yeah I did mine there recently, was fairly straightforward and they were all dead on, I booked a course with gardaip a week before it and I couldn’t recommend it more he had me completely prepared, well worth the money and say you should get if you haven’t done yours already!

Had my interview this morning. Nothing less than a scene out of king kong. Bottled it to bits.

How long after the interviews do you know if you passed or not? I heard that its a week from the last day of the interviews but not sure when the last day of the interviews are.

Just had the interview. Not easy lads be prepared to think on your feet. I think they purposely intend to put you a state of confusion by means of bombarding you with small Questions that really test the strength of your competencie examples . All the best to everyone

That was exactly the case with mine. I think they kinda cop onto the fact that you have prepared well and start cornering you to see how you react. Sure look, it's done anyways. All we can do is wait and see.

Would anyone have a link to the YouTube video or advise on how to practice bleep tests ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 toyforme

That's it. And aswel they don't seem to acknowledge a well put together answer that ticks the boxes....if anything they will act unimpressed. (which I reckon is part of abit of a an owl game there playing) best not even look at them, just listen carefully to the question

Hey did anyone add you in to batch 9 WhatsApp ? I’m looking to be added in too 😊

Search Bleep test 20 meter on YouTube/Spotify.

    Improve your bleep:

Practice turning - Change leg each shuttle. Time the bleep in the early rounds to get a good sync. Idea is to pass the 20 metre line and the bleep sounds at the same time you immediately turn and go, to use momentum to propel into the next shuttle.

Interval training - 80 metres, 100m, 200m, 400m sprints. On a court suicides x 10, rest repeat. Shuttle 20 metres x 10 maximum effort 2 sets. You can do runs on the treadmill but shuttles will help you with your running and turning.

Usually when someone is done they can get another full level. Dig deep and conserve energy for the later levels.

Note: If you’re an all round fit runner you’ll do a good bleep test. All three elements come into play endurance, speed and stamina. Good luck 👍

@g_or97 It’s so bad. I edited the whole document to make it more presentable and I ended up eliminating around 10 PGS alone attributable to footers being in the incorrect places.

Most of the errors are down the bottom left, it’s a black line, press delete and it will eliminate a lot of the formatting issues. For the tables right click and select “fit to width of page”. The sergeant I met said that most people that have meet her, their forms are were all over the shop but mine was extremely neat. My other half said I was fuckin nuts fixing the form but it was infuriating how bad it was.I’m surprised no one in HR has raised their concerns about how annoying it must be.
