Do people stlll have radios In the house ?

We have 3 of the 4 in the house. Not the exact ones above, but 3 of the 4 types. Don't have the DAB one. But also have a... "Hi-Fi Entertainment System", you know the big 5 disc, 2 tape, radio with 2 equally big speakers. But we don't listen to them much anymore, they were mainly used by dad and it just doesn't feel right yet using them now he's passed.

I still do like having a gander at the mad yokes you can get these days. I remember paying €500 for one of those 2 speaker systems years ago, back around 2002. It was very very loud, but amazingly crystal clear. I mentioned it to the shop I bought it from, and they asked me to bring it back in to check it out. Seems they sold the twice as powerful speakers/system for the wrong price. Didn't ask for it back, just called me lucky and said it should have been €850!

I have an ancient one that used to belong to my Great Uncle. I used to turn it on every morning before I would leave the house for work. I stopped using it early on during Covid because of the same Covid information ads being repeated every ten minutes on every radio station and I haven't used it since.

Radio on the telly is handy and if you have satellite you can get the BBC stations.

I do but I barely use them. The one in my bedroom is there mostly for the time and the one in my Kitchen for the odd time I feel like turning it on but that's only for listening to my favorite CDs, remember them?

I have a friend on the other hand who has two radios on all the time and both on the same station so anytime I am in her house I hear radio. She is more an acoustic person where as I am more a visual person.

+1 for radio on the tv. handy when doing a few bits around the house.

I usually just ask my Google nest thingy to ‘play classic rock’ if I want music in the background. I bought one for my dad and he loves it, he just asks it to play RTÉ gold and it stays on all day. He’s a serious music fan, he has a sound system he spent €2k on last year and hundreds of vinyl albums and CDs. He listens to them in the evening.

Have a plain Panasonic radio in the kitchen. I have it on in the background at breakfast, having my dinner, washing dishes, etc. Nice to have the background noise.

Have a battery one, rechargeable with solar power panel on the back, sits on the kitchen windowsill for lyric fm in the mornings.

I've got a Panasonic Power blaster, probably one of the last proper quality boom boxes, but now mostly just cast to the tv. I've been meaning to get a proper amp and speakers to go slightly more audiophile.

Have a couple of devices that can receive FM and one that can receive AM+FM.

Think they are important if there is a power and Internet access outrage.

Bought a DAB + FM radio in Lidl recently as a cheap kitchen radio + was wondering what DAB was all about. I returned it because there are no DAB broadcasts here. 😁

I have google devices scattered around the apartment. So I just ask it to play the radio. Or for some stations I just stream it from my phone to the speaker.

I do think I should get some kind of AM/FM/LW radio just to have knocking around in case of power/internet outages.

Half a dozen at least radios around the house, of which three in daily use.

I've a Pioneer tuner in my stack; but that's it. Listen to radio on smart speakers or the TVs primarily.
