Oh my god... what a try that would have been

Still, great play in greasy conditions.

I don't think Ireland have anything to fear from this England team.

What Ireland do have to fear is their own ability to shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly…

The U20 standard has gone through the roof from 10 years ago.

Win, lose or draw Ireland 20s are the best I've ever seen at this level.

There are errors today, very young men and a huge prize.

    Some amazing turnovers

Can't tell if it's poor ruck protection or just fantastic poaching instinct.

Enjoyable half. Need to cut out the errors

Brian Gleeson has been at another level here so far.

Feel like Irish players have to be on the ball for at 7-8 seconds before the ref eventually gives them a penalty at the breakdown.

And a charge down and England score

why oh why do the Irish guys do this to themselves?

Overturned. A massive let off there for Ireland.

Did Prendergast just dummy a kick before flicking a pass back?

Even without the Irish player landing on his head/neck that should be a red card. An absolutely disgusting tackle.

    Has to be a red.

A situation where a player managing to barely get their own arm out a millisecond before they hit the deck to save their own neck being broken potentially can’t be deemed mitigation.

Very similar to Willis’ one on Ross Byrne yesterday.

    Reckless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,868 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

why do they keep replaying it - obvious red

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Good decision imo. McErlean was about 6 inches from a broken neck, the fact that he ultimately landed on his side shouldn't matter.

Dangerous, but feel a bit bad for the English player. A lot of momentum from the Irish 15 and a higher centre of gravity given the height differential (since the English player had gone low). It looked like there was an attempt to wrap as well.

Very good refereeing there - TMO was trying to talk him off based on how he landed.

How he landed was lucky, should never be allowed mitigate a reckless tackle like that unless the tackler does something to try and bring him down safely

Gleeson again. He’s been the star here today.

England were down to 11 men for that Ireland try. One man in the bin, another sent off and two players receiving treatment by their physios.
