Took Salah and Nunez out of my team on my WC this week. It's hurt me this GW but I still think long term it's the right decision with all the DGWs and BGWs coming up. Famous last words

Pleased I resisted the WC this week. I did take Nunez out for Toney unfortunately but did at least keep Salah and TAA. 61 with Toney and Andreas to come.

A season high 26 on the bench this GW.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,715 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

No. Liverpool won't hammer Bournemouth IMO. And Toney looks a better bet with a good DGW.

But he's more viable than he's been for much of the season.

Probably my best GW in a few years....on 63 points with Henry to play.

Big jump in OR from 850K to 530K and actually caught up with mini league rivals that I'd frankly given up on.

I'd love to say it was a brilliantly forged plan to hold off on Wildcarding but it was more due to procrastination and ignorance.

I can understand the jokes and "banter" this GW, given the Liverpool Man Utd result, and WC teams not doing great, but I don't get the kneejerk reaction to the whole 'WC was was a failure', 'should never have WC'ed' etc. WC teams are for the long haul, it's not a one week free hit. No one could have predicted that Liverpool result. I don't think we all need to suddenly stock up on Liverpool players now. It's quite possible that this is just a freak result, this was a low scoring GW (bar pool cover!) and that your WC team will score you more points in the coming weeks. Anyway, WC teams were mostly picked for the next 3 GWs, not GW26.

The issue is though that those not WC'ing might have been only holding off a week. If we do WC this week then it will be to a similar team as the WC26, negating any 'gains' the WC26 can earn in 27,28,29 etc.

I'm not sure I will WC this week now, but 27 always won out over 26 for me.

True, but let's be honest, holding off for one more week was to make calls on the likes of Brighton and Arsenal assets. I think everyone was happy to dump Liverpool players (maybe holding Salah, but I think most would have got rid with his price tag).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭Benimar

Actually one of the reasons I held off is that I thought Salah had as much chance of a return as anyone, and he has Bournemouth next. Yes, no one would have predicted 21 points, but I figured that even one return would negate any gains the WCers made elsewhere. I'm not one to criticise anyone elses decisions (I've made my share of howlers) but I really didnt see the need to WC in 26.

No surprises in the lineups from what I can see.... there's a lad called Hickey starting at RB for Bournemouth that I've never heard of though

Dunno about that to be honest, granted I played my WC in GW20, but with pool having just had a DGW and another two coming up (one confirmed), wouldn't make a pile of sense to sell and buy back. They haven't conceded in last 4 games either so if you have TAA that's another reason to keep him. Salah's form going into yesterday wasn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination - 2 goals and assist in previous 4 games.

Majority of people will have 3 Arsenal players anyway so don't need WC for that, and large number have one of March or Mitoma so again what are they WCing into? I haven't' been paying much attention so I genuinely don't know. Toney seems to be in may teams and someone mentioned that he's prime captain choice for next week - this is a lad who had 1 goal in last 4 games and while he had 2 DGW in the next 3, both DGW games are away from home. Toney is also sitting on 8 yellow cards - if he was to get a yellow tonight- that's a very risky spot to be in as 10 yellows is 2 match suspension.

    Pinnock goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,673 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    1-0 Brentford

    given as Pinnock (hickey)

Thought it might be OG myself

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,701 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

Pinnock goal (hardly an assist there) and may even be an OG due to deflection

Brentford all over them here, and a few have pinnock on WC

FPL have it as Pinnock(Hickey) for now.

Unreal...was 50/50 on Mee vs Pinnock this week but went for Mee because he actually has attacking returns this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,569 ✭✭✭✭gammygils

    Got Pinnock on WC

I actually picked the right Brentford def

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,626 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

Toney free kick hits the woodwork.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,701 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

Andreas free off woodwork and Solomon follows it into the net then for a goal

    1-1

    CS wipe out

    Solomon the form man

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,626 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

    Solomon (Andreas). Brentford CS gone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,029 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

I know FF are been consistent, but a shot off the cross bar - is deemed off target, so how they give an assist, when Solomon was clearly not the intended target just goes to show the randomise of the rules at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,569 ✭✭✭✭gammygils

Feck it was hoping for a Pinnock 15 pointer to add 50% to my score

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,368 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

Mee bullet header in the second half please.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,701 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

Sense and assist rules for FPL don't fall into the same category. And it's frustrating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,749 ✭✭✭sheroman01

I've just seen the goal, and while I don't personally care if Hickey gets the assist or not, it just shows the lack of consistency in the FPL assist "rules". Going by their own absurd subjective rule, there is absolutely no way Pinnock was the "intended target" there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,701 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

And a cross by TAA a few weeks back wasn't an assist and the target was where he hit the ball too. Make it make sense please!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,626 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

    Pen to Brentford, Toney converts.

    Edit: Norgaard "assist"
