This team is amazing. There are flaws but none of it is character related. Phonemenal ability to keep believing even in the most difficult scenarios.

Scoring the winner in the 8th minute of 6 minutes added time is the true mark of champions 😂

Absolutely delighted for Reiss Nelson. Has served his time on loan and is back to give his all to the club. A brilliant professional.

I think conceding 2 goals and should have been 3 is a big warning for the team. Lads not concentrating and taking the opposition for granted. Also putting high balls in to small strikers time and time again when they have the ability to beat them on the ground is stupid. Lessons to be learned for sure.

I know we have to use the squad but I always think that you should start your best and make changes when in control.

He was Hale End's original great hope! Suffered really badly with confidence problems. If he doesn't have a tonne of confidence after that performance, he never will have any! What a baller.

That winner will give him confidence for sure and he scored 2 in an earlier game. He was great when he came on in both games.

Lads. Absolutely buzzing. Watching the flashscore app until we were 2-0 down, fecked work off to watch the inevitable comeback.

Not good for the blood pressure are the Arsenal. Christ I had to lie down after that 🤣

Right so hands up I haven’t followed arsenal too much over the last 15 years, kept an eye out for results and watched the odd game when it suited, my son has got into football in the last year or so, I gave him no choice but to be an arsenal supporter, timing is everything, me back watching regularly because of him has coincided with getting to watch a team pushing toward being an excellent term for the first time in years.

on a side note Zinchenko is just a great fella, he’s the type of player that wins things for teams, just a great attitude

The nuances, Odegaard falling over, Saliba running the wrong way and kicking the corner flag, was that Jesus who ran onto the pitch to celebrate too 😂

I think we got very lucky today. We are not an established squad of 20, we have 12 games left. We have to go all in each time. Today we sat too many players lacking minutes playing. Veira, ESR, Tommy… it was really high risk.

If we wanted to rest players it should have been on Thursday away in Portugal.

Great response from the team to bring us back. For me though we have to go strong every single league game at expense of EL.

I thought that a major weakness we had or City's biggest strength is the lack of deep squad strength. If Nelson can come into the squad from the wilderness and turn a game on its head like that, perhaps the gap isn't as big as I thought.

    And breath....

Just did a re-watch. I actually think Vieira was quite good for the most part. Tomi was rusty but again, did ok. Not sure the new faces were responsible for the struggles we had.

We had record breaking number of crosses into the box again today. We created loads, but the last touch often let us down, that could also be down to the huge numbers Bournemouth had in the box. A difficult web to weave, so to speak.

The goals they got were when we were still asleep at the back because of our dominance. It was not good enough, but normally the others don't score here. We had 81% possession today. That's mental!

Also, at least 3 of those shouts were penalties. How VAR doesn't give 1 or 2 of them is baffling. Really baffling. Any other day we win this 5-1 or 6-2. The manner of the win was exhausting, so must be triple that for the players. I hope they rest well this week! But it will also do their psyche the power of good. The belief that adds to the squad is incalculable.

Fingers crossed for quick returns now for Eddie and Jesus and Leo's injury looked quite bad. A groin injury that causes you to limp while walking, is not a good look. Or hopefully Leo can recover quick... Or all 3!!!

Finally REISS NELSON. That is all COME ON YOU GOONERS!

    PS. Oh, and Spurs! 🤣

I love the young players in this team, really do. They need a vocal grown up out there with them though, today showed that. Partey was out there but he’s more of a lead by example type of player.

Really missed either Xhaka or Jorginho for that first hour. Did really well to claw it back to 2-2 but I think no coincidence that we get the winner with Xhaka on the pitch.

Maybe the likes of Tomi, Vieira and Tierney are all starting on Thursday, I hope they are. Need to prioritise the league over the EL at this stage imo.

I watched the entire game again and we were denied at least 2 penalties. Clear penalties. Anyone know who the VAR referee was?

Does it matter at this stage? It's beyond a joke now!

I dunno are they clear pens to be honest. Proximity plays a massive factor these days when deciding on handballs

I've see enough of them given against Arsenal.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 56,586 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

I thought the foul on Tomi in the first half was a stonewall peno irrespective of the handballs. The defender kicks through Tomis standing leg with no ball in sight.

The other one I thought was definitely a peno was the one in the second half where the defender handled the shot onto the post from Sakas shot.

The other 2 I've seen given but also seen them turned down in equal measure but those two we definitely should have been given imo anyways.

Wouldn't be surprised if the FA charge us for our players running on after Nelsons goal.

Was the one onto the post not covered by recent change to the handball rule? It used to be below the shoulder is handball but now it’s further down

I normally say "i don't understand this" in a kind of a snarky whiny way with decisions and that, but I think I maybe don't understand handball anymore. Or offside, come to that.

Anyway what a season, what a game what a great bunch of lads.

For what it's worth, and I don't say this lightly, I want out of the Europa League asap. Last thing I want is the inevitable two legs against Man Utd and the inevitable injuries/tiredness/worse things I don't want to say that come with it.

I just want these kids to win the league.

We all would like that, for you to win the league and go out of the Europa League early.
