Even if he's betting on himself it still very potentially effects the integrity of the competition and changes his behaviour though. Say he's in a 2-on-1, and would ordinarily square it for a tap in - maybe because of a bet on himself he doesn't pass and goes himself, and doesn't score.

You're right that the type of bet is important regardless though, but I'd nearly just have it as any bet in a game he's involved in is extremely serious as it could be altering the outcome of the game, while bets in games he has nothing to do with are a little less serious (though obviously still serious, as it's an extremely prohibited act).

lol yea Wolves player lost control and comes in a speed two footed if Fabinho doesn't jump to get out of the way it connects with his ankle, he has no where else to land but on the Wolves player. That should have been a free kick to Liverpool but its Paul Tierney who is one of the worst refs in the league.

It's the second time he's ended up stamping on a player's knee. A coward tackle.

He should have been sent off for the challenge on Ferguson but that I am afraid is all the Wolves playing coming in out of control do you expect a player to stay still and get clattered 2 footed?

He got the ball in the first clip before fab stood on his knee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,869 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I thought both players should have been booked tbh.

Fabinho does stand on Lemina's leg, but that is after Lemina lunges in with his feet off of the ground causing Fabinho to go into the air to avoid being caught.

That's because fab doesn't move. Dunno what he is trying to do but he's not in control of the ball. Only highlighting it as it's the second time in a month or so.

You can't tell if he touched it when lunging in before the ball hits Fabinhos right leg, if Fabinho had not lifted his left leg he would have touched it first but also most likely had his ankle broken. The Wolves player lunged in at speed after miss controlling the ball, 99 times out of 100 that is a free kick against that player.

If you think that is a player jumping out of the way then I don't know what to say to you.

I have no dog in this fight but that isn't a player jumping out of the way of a tackle, that is a player stepping over the tackle and leaving a receipt on the way past. A player jumping to avoid the contact will look completely different.

Don't forget that Fabinho had full view of the tackle coming, he knew exactly what he was at.

..... And he was right in this instance.

There were several challenges during that period from Wolves players that were let go by the referee, they were getting stuck in to say the least.

If the referee won't protect you, you gotta protect yourself. It's either get a serious injury, be bullied off the pitch, or stand up to the bullying.

Fabinho's tackle put a hält to Lamina jumping into 2 footed tackles for the evening, even if Tierney didn't.

Oh I know it's bad to be betting on his own games, but betting on yourself to score is very different than betting on your team to lose.

And I think the ban should reflect that.

Classy tweet you put up,I'm sure not by accident.

Not sure if this has been discussed previously but the Saudi's got themselves into a mess in the US with a lawsuit against the PGA. They tried to halt discovery by admitting that the PIF (Vessel used to purchase Newcastle) is indeed owned and ran by the Saudi state.

I wonder if the premier league will show any backbone whatsoever in light of the admission? They claimed they have legally binding assurances that there was no connection and that if found otherwise in future they would be removed as owner.

I have zero faith in the premier league but I'm hoping against hope that this has a knock on effect with the Qatar bid for United and in some way scuppers the deal.

I didn't read what he was rambling about. More embarrassed for an Irish person speaking like that tbf. You can't delete what I inserted on this site using the edit button.

Dawson had a fairly tight challenge on Jota last night too. He did get the ball but the follow throw was very dangerous and it did see Jota’s ankle very nearly in a bad way. I’m not sure that type of tackle is allowed, even if you do get the ball?

There's more chance of Sam Smith doing a tour of Riyadh and Doha than there is of the Newcastle takeover being overturned or the Man Utd one being stopped. Money talks.

The real issue with the Newcastle takeover was the blatant piracy of pl games by Saudi once that stopped the rubber stamp came out.

    Liverpool 2-5 Real Madrid

    Man Utd 2-1 Barcelona

    Real Madrid 0-1 Barcelona

    Liverpool ?-? Man Utd

In a linear world Marcus Rashford must be licking his lips already. Liverpool have had too many false dawns this season, and even clean sheets against Crystal Palace (21 goals) and Wolves (18 goals) aren't that hard to achieve. Last years two ties were a 9-0 aggregate for Liverpool. This season its 4-0 to Man Utd, a massive 13 goal turnaround that shows which direction both teams are going in.

Where are you getting 4-0 to Utd? The Old Trafford game was 2-1.

<edit> Guessing you saw the July preseason friendly in Thailand by accident (where Liverpool started 5 teenagers, and brought on 5 more). The actual match between them was 2-1, Sancho, Rashford and Salah.

Honestly, that is one of the most biased takes on that Fabhino tackle.

I just happened to notice the narrative between Salah and Rashford over the last two weeks or so.

Rashford - great season. Salah - awful season.

The thing is though that Rashford is playing for a United who are flying and Salah is playing in an injury struck lackluster Liverpool. The difference? Rashford has scored four more goals so far this season.

Now saying that it's great to see Rashford doing well. Ole could have destroyed his career playing him when he had that back injury and because of that his form and confidence were through the floor and there were loads of United fans willing to let him leave last summer (think it was Arsenal were linked for 50m?).

I'd have Rashford or Mitoma in my TOTY so far for LW with Rashford leading the way so far.

Bottom line for me on Fabinho.

He was protecting himself really. At that stage, Wolves were getting stuck in to Liverpool, and the referee was letting it flow '.

Lamina' s 2 footed lunge was hugely dangerous, and in the absence of the referee protecting him or the other Liverpool players on the night, Fabinho either left one in /didn't try to avoid Lamina in the tackle.

He was 100% right imho, sometimes you gotta take things into your own hands and stand up to the bullies.

I did !!! I think I confused it with a 4-0 loss before the Liverpool game as well. (Brentford or Brighton?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,035 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

It is coming from the same ref who disallowed a goal when a player who in the process of being pushed off the ball fell into another defender so instead of either letting the goal stand or awarding a pen for the 1st foul, the player being pushed off the ball he gave a free kick out for the fouled player fouling another player.

Ryan Fraser has been sent to train with Newcastles Reserve side. I'd say Howe fúckin loved doing that.

Liverpool will best united this weekend, United have looked very leggy recently and although they’re managing to get results not much of it has been impressive.

liverpool haven’t been particularly impressive either but they’ve managed to stem the floods at the right time and will be well up for it. My guess is United will struggle to break them down in the first half, Liverpool will score from a break or set-piece and second half will end up 0-0.

not expecting it to be a match to remember in any form.

Can't feel a bit sorry for Fraser after how he acted after the 19/20 restart. Howe was his manager for that wasn't he?

Brighton have played a blinder here.

Rejected a mid-season offer and have now tied him down to a new contract.

Will be looking for big money for him now if someone bids for him in the summer
