I am enquiring here regarding the approximate cost for this particular job at an independent garage. Car is a 2016 Nissan Note diesel 1.5 L. Thanks .

You won’t have any change out of a €1000 anyway and more if you go through main dealer ..

€400 to 500 all in, that would include a water pump too.

If you are in Dublin, you could try The Car Maintenance Centre in Tallaght.

I have had timing belts replaced by them for around €450, including a water pump.

I got a quote for a timing chain change out for a Mazda CX5 from a main garage, four and a half grand (€4,500).

Replacing a timing chain is a much much larger job than replacing a timing belt.

Mazdas put the fear of God into me when it comes to repair costs.

If someone is getting €1,000 for that job they must be getting someone else to do it and pocketing the other €500.
