It’s not about the “anyone”, it’s about the amounts of money. The numbers we’re talking about it’s impossible for no-one to have been hurt for it.

If Manchester United (or Liverpool/Arsenal/whoever) were being bought by a group consisting of Greta Thunberg, Mother Theresa, Kermit the frog, Bono & the ghost of Mohammad Ali the money still would not be clean. The numbers are too big.

Very poor giving the ball away Zinchenko.

Saliba should have done better too.

Martinez had no chance from that Saka shot. 1-1.

On a really low level, and I don't know what generation you are from, but I can see hundreds if not thousands of Europeans moving to Dubai, Abu Dhabi etc every year in order to 'live the high life'. It's unreal there etc etc. It's the new go to place to live for young people, and older too if you want a holiday of luxury. It's not USA / UK anymore. Any long haul destination for a honeymoon? You need 3 days there first.

This has only started in the last 10 or so years. Would it have been considered in 2005? I doubt it. Maybe you had the odd lad going but not people in their masses from what I can see anyways.

More and more events are taking place there now as it has to have the biggest events. The golf, the F1, the World Cup etc. People are travelling for these events when previously you might have travelled around Ireland for golf or to the UK maybe. UK or maybe Europe for the F1 etc.

Arsenal defenders fall asleep and Coutinho slots it home.

Villa take the lead again through Coutinho. Great team goal

    Arsenal are really missing Partey

There are different levels of bad. If I break a red light in my car it’s breaking the law but it’s not comparable with selling drugs or killing people.

I think the “aren’t we all corrupt on some level” type arguments are quite shallow whataboutery . Yes we all do hypocritical stuff and probably drop our morals as it suits us. Yes many people with alot of money probably weren’t whiter then white getting it.

But that doesn’t mean you just accept that this means anything and everybody is fair game. I think an awful lot of people in these threads need to educate themselves on sportswashing before commenting on it because clearly a lot of people don’t get it.

If you start from the viewpoint of their motive and follow all threads to the end you don’t end up at a place where you can ignore the implications of allowing this to continue to infect the sport. Ignorance is no excuse.

There was a great piece in “Manchester is red” podcast on it and the athletic have done countless ones in the past. There’s plenty of places for people to properly educate themselves on it and then make an informed decision on it.

Im not saying I won’t support United if they are Saudi or Quatar owned. I don’t know what to do with it to be honest and as mentioned I could choose to not support them. But I’m not sure I’m prepared to do that.

I didn’t stop supporting them even though we had muck owners. I didn’t stop supporting them because they were doing poorly. I didn’t start supporting FC United like some fans did.

What I am prepared to do is express by disgust at it. What will that achieve? Not much probably but I’m not fooling myself that “it’s all grand” or going to lie to myself that this isn’t an abomination of a situation to be allowed to unfold. It’s disgusting and every success United has under this sort of ownership (if it happen) will be tainted.

I am human , maybe in awhile , like everybody else, I will have been groomed to just accept it, but I’d love it if somebody intervened now to stop this rot. I don’t want united to be a pawn of these sort of owners.

Chelsea, Newcastle and City opened the door, united would be kicking the door in completely. Might aswell get Putin and Kim Jung to buy clubs , sure it’s just their culture right and sure aren’t all rich people probably shady anyways?

Arsenal were becoming easier to score against even with Partey in the side. Brentford should have been a couple ahead by halftime last week.

Saka should be off for a 2nd yellow. He followed through on Moreno and got away with it earlier.

But of frustration started to kick in for Arsenal.

I think Villa will need a 3rd here though. You can see another Ming's mistake coming

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,882 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Think we’re seeing the aftermath of that Lee Mason VAR mistake where they don’t want to make any decisions in the significant games now.

Nketiah with a blatant dive, ref sees it, gives no free, no yellow. Players getting sent off (2nd yellow) for being the 3rd man over to complain to the referee last week, this week Xhaka is allowed literally scream in the ref’s face with no consequence. Saka leaves an unpleasant one on Moreno and not even a free or a yellow.

Id say the more the conversation continues about those 2 points unfairly lost last week, the more we will see it.

Arsenal are a very petulant team when things start to go wrong.

A beauty from Zinchenko. I do hope Arsenal win this, don't want Man City to start running away with it.

Awful by Nketiah - truly poor finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,808 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Nketiah made a mess of that. Should be 3-2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,033 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Saka could do with a bit of protection here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Jarhead_Tendler

He should have been protected by being sent off himself
