Free chocolates worth a euro if you spend how much on flowers I wonder

I barely look at the app unless I’m adding the PARKRUN code

So spend €29 to get a freebie hmm

I've no weekly offers activated ,it was same last week. Super saver fruit and veg offers are terrible. €1.09 broccoli, €2.49 potatoes, 10% off meats that are still over a fiver.

    Next week includes 3 organic lemons €1.49, 200g "funsize" 🙄 carrots 69c. It's been a real nosedive.

I'd prefer if they brought back the weekend specials they used to have.

I havent bought broccoli in about 6 months but Im pretty sure that the last time I did it was 79c for 500g. That 'offer' on this week is 1.09 for 350g and its full price is listed as 1.49. Broccoli getting smaller in size while also doubling in price was news to me.

In other veg related news I discovered a hack with spring onions during the week. If you put them in a jar with the roots only just submerged by water they will grow about an inch every 2-3 days. Snip that off with scissors and use it in your stir fry or whatever and it will grow back again in another couple of days. The water also needs to be changed every 2-3 days as they are feeding off the minerals in it. Once you do that it will keep growing back and you have free spring onions.

I’ve never had the issue with it going off quickly, maybe I just eat it quick, it was €1.89 in Dunnes last week so €1.09 in Aldi for 500g seems to be the best option for it atm.

Saw on facebook they're doing a Waste Not box of 5kg mixed fruit and veg for €3. It'll include fruits/veggies from opened multipacks so not (just?) short dated.

Saw it instore. Looks ok if someone wants so much veg in one go

And you don't even need an app code to use it! You'd have thought this would be a good fit for it...

Just thought I’d mention this, the 5kg of fruit and veg is behind the till so it might be worth having a look before doing your shop

soups and stews or par boil and freezing is a great option for the veg

    Lidl 5kg_box OK .jpg Lidl 5kg_box wip.jpg

Just a quick peek inside the boxes - a mix of peppers/orange/apple/parsnip and onions OR potato OR carrots

Not all shops are equal , but the memo will get to the store manager eventually .

Special holding cage fits 2 boxes - the rest could be stack up or brought to shop as they sell off - a very good initiative overall

scratch cards only for money spent - if redeeming only the parkrun you'll receive a warm ' Thank you for your custom '

Love the veg box, we go through it fairly easily.

Also the upcoming period poverty offer is a fantastic initiative for the ladies

I really hope it's not abused by people leading to its removal or it being scaled back down the line. Much needed and a great initiative for those who need it.

Got the 20% off their Formil range scratchcard. Happy enough as we all need detergent

If anyone's in Cork, got this in the door. Works in Lidl Ballincollig only. They're celebrating opening the new store.

I wouldn't be able to spend 50 yoyos there if i tried.

Thid is what the app has come to, rubbish "deals" like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 476 ✭✭go4it

That's about 5% return on a €30 spend , although if you received those products free with no spend conditions before , it might feel like this is less of a deal

There's another voucher €3 off €30 - that's a 10% discount on the spot - might feel like a less of the deal compared to another supermarket offering €10 off €50 for a future purchase ( assuming you didn't had a voucher before - you need to start the cycle from somewhere and keep spending €50 to qualify for vouchers )

getting value for money has different meaning for many people ( well beyond - 50% OFF for second item purchased VS 30% discount on each item )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,576 ✭✭✭Rows Grower

If you had a few of those could you use 3 of the same vouchers on one 150 euro purchase?

Yes you can use three of those vouchers all showing the correct date as displayed on the top of the voucher but have to stop once your spend has reached over €50 give the voucher to the cashier pay your €40 odd quid and start again with your next lot of shopping that has to exceed €50 before you use the next voucher and so on. Used it at before Christmas had over €100 and Lidl cashier broke my shopping into two @ handed me a voucher for the next lot of €50 spend.
