It should never be called VAR, it should always be refered to as 5th/video official *insert their actual name*. The concept of this nameless VAR being responsible for all the mistakes and issues removed accountability for the refs operating the video.

Hopefully AI will be running VAR soon enough, humans are idiots. I think the FA are partly to blame by changing the rules and how the rules should be interpreted and wanting “let it flow” to supersede VAR and the rules.

Remember for a while the game was going back 5-8 hours phases of play to cancel out a goal. Var should have worked itself out by now. But it seems to be going from one extreme to another.

    Nathan Jones gone from Southampton

Terrible appointment in the first place, never should have got the job. Probably too late now for any manager to come in and save Southampton from relegation. The damage is done

A big pay off no doubt to cushion the blow for him.

He signed a three and a half year contract only 3 months ago. A nice little earner for him. He won't have any issue finding a new job either. Southampton are a mess though, they need to just accept relegation build towards next season.

I actually think he will have trouble. He built a bit of a stigma around him with his stupid interviews, which will mean teams know they’re gonna get a bit more backlash from their fans if they hire him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭Azatadine

Yeah, I'd say he will struggle to get a role for a while. His results were atrocious and some of his interviews recently didn't come across very well. I'd imagine Bazunu will be in the Championship next year.

Fans only care about winning, not post match interviews. A team in the championship will be more than happy to give him a go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,882 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Fans only care about winning. But he won’t have won before he’s hired, and coming in with a big dark cloud over you, has typically made winning more difficult.

It’s not like it’s Jose Mourinho, where he isn’t popular at all, but you know he is a winner. It’s eh Nathan Jones, who has had a couple of good seasons at Luton but been sacked within less than a year, both the times he’s tried to go somewhere bigger than that.

Jones was bizarre start to finish, he recalled back up to the back up Villa CB Bednarek and paired him with Maitland-Niles yesterday. In his 9 games I'm not sure he played the same system in any of them. He might have accidentally picked the same formation but he had completely different players shoved in each position each game.

He was lucky Lampard was keeping the heat off him.

I know man City have a buy back option in Bazunu, also on Lavia, I wonder will they have a lower buy back clause if they were to get relagated

I don't think you understand the point.

This isn't about the World Cup, or getting a 'break' as players play a mid season tournament. When other players have already played in 2 other tournaments the same year such as the AFCON & Nations League.

It's the accumulation of games before the World and even the season had started.

From January 1st 2022, until the opening game of the PL in August in 2022, Liverpool / Man City / West Ham / Chelsea players will have played an awful lot more games than those of Man Utd / Arsenal / Newcastle players. They went into the season tired. There is a big difference in number of games played, minutes in the legs. Some players were playing 2/3 games a week, while others were playing 1. In continued condensed seasons because of COVID & the WC, it's making a big difference. The fresher teams are getting the advantages now. Some players were in multiple tournaments and having to do the hard running in April, May & June. Back then to play the Charity shield in July & the league started in August. The football didn't stop.

    • Liverpool 36
    • Chelsea 33
    • Man City 30
    • West Ham 28
    • Man Utd 24
    • Arsenal 22
    • Newcastle 21

It's not a Liverpool thing when clubs like Chelsea, Man City, West Ham and even Real Madrid are suffering the same fates this year as the bodies give up on players that played a lot more football last season. West Ham have played 20 European games so far in the last 2 seasons. Arsenal & Newcastle have 6 combined. Liverpool & Chelsea played 14 odd games more than Arsenal & Newcastle in a short few months time. It takes it's toll. I'm fairly sure that Liverpool & Chelsea have played the most games in Europe over the last 2 seasons. That tough schedule that you mention Man United having this month. Liverpool & Chelsea had that for half a season!

Yet loads of, in this example, Liverpool players had lighter schedules in December yet have come back worse than ever.

When will they recover from a tough workload?

Not sure if they would exercise a buy back option though? Bazunu had nothing in front of him but whether a victim of the team that he's played in or not, he hasn't looked anything special at all really.

Collins is in trouble too I'd say. He's going to struggle to get back into the Wolves team now.

There's a Leeds fan being picked up by the nearside mics who is doing God's work out there today.

Gone quiet the last 5mins, but hopefully he's only taking a breather and it's not Sky who've copped on.

Very casual by Maguire there. Lucky to escape without any damage being done.

Fine save to keep Leeds in it.

I know Utd fans will love the fact he 'boils piss' but Bruno is always looking to cheat. Genuinely more than most.

De Gea a very lucky boy following that error.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 224 ✭✭Bluebb993

Only way I could see the buy back being worthwhile for arguments sake is city sold him for 15million, the buy back is rumored to be 40 million, but if they had a relagation clause in there so they could potentially buy him back for 25 million would it be worthwhile to trigger it

Looks onside to me, and it is.

    Out of nothing really

He's done nothing all game but Rashford scores again and puts them in hte driving seat with 10 to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,812 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That's a sickened for Leeds, but they lack the cutting edge despite all their chances. VAR had a look, but Rashford was marginally onside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,921 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

That is a top class pick out for the first from Shaw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,812 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

And OFF goes that match now.

Very nice finish and that should be that. keeper should not be beaten at the near post though.

Ten Hag knows what he's doing.
