Mahrez almost got an undeserved equaliser for City, hitting the underside of the crossbar.

Why would it have been undeserved? City have more than double Spurs possession and triple their number of shots on target.

Not a good cross from Perisic, could have been 2-0.

Some City players are getting really upset about these penalty calls that are not penalties - a bit much in the ref's face.

I have a feeling Spurs are going to regret not getting another with all these counter attacks.

Man City love a moan up to the ref

Daft tackle from Romero and sent off. No need for it and must have known he would get a second yellow for it.

Blatant dive by Grealish, he was at 45 degrees by the time contact was made.

City wont win anything this season.

More evidence of a team taking advantage of the head injury rule.

    Hojberg was fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,240 ✭✭✭Garzorico

Hojijberg should be ashamed of himself for that carry on (going down with a ‘head’ injury at the free kick there. How do they live with themselves carrying on like that?

The aul rugger n NFL are miles ahead of any other sport when it comes to reffing games and implementing the rules.

And a peno all day long there for Lloriss foul on Rodhri. Ridiculous call.

    Never a penalty

Spurs fans will he delighted with the win and rightly so.

But then the realisation of the absolutely huge favour they have just done for Arsenal in the title race sets in and I'm sure a bit of the gloss of the victory will be wiped out.

Pep keeping De Bruyne on the bench for an hour certainly backfired somewhat.

Guardiola beating himself again. ‘I’ll drop the most creative player in the league for ‘tactical reasons’ that’ll show ‘em’

if you didn’t know better you would swear he was doing his mate Arteta as many favours as possible. A few players here, a few dropped points there..

commentators said that city haven’t scored at the new spurs stadium in the 5 games they’ve played there..that’s a crazy stat given this city team

City really do play with ten men when Haaland is in the side, of course against the lesser sides it's perfect, he'll score, but against the bigger clubs Haaland is a ghost.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,033 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

He'd have been better off dropping Haaland. Pep really is an idiot. All the resources in the world and he doesn't know how to use them, but apparently he's some sort of genius (for no reason other than he managed 3 of the most dominant teams in their respective leagues).

If it’s outside the box it’s a free all day long. Lloris gets the ball and takes the man out. The ‘I got the ball ref’ is no longer a mitigating circumstance. A nailed on peno.

slightl off topic, like I said earlier, the Rugby/NFL are light years ahead when it comes to implementing the rules. Even at grassroots level (and I am talking U11 junior rugby) the refs are accountable and explain their decisions to the players so it is crystal clear to everyone why any given call is made. The soccer ref is allowed hide behind the ‘because is why’ excuse. We are in big business now with all the money the game is generating and they won’t let the likes of a (bad) ref make big decisions on his own that can potentially cost millions/damage a brand.

Its Rodri - a chap who clatters into players 60 times a game, but is always the one fouled and never gets a card. He's allowed to do as he pleases at the best of times, why on earth would anyone give him a penalty for throwing himself into the keeper? I'm only surprised he wasn't up quicker and over to moan at the ref.

Carragher saying that Haaland might of chosen the wrong club to get the best out of him,After a blistering start to the season the goals have dried up a bit for him(by his high standards),now he will probably still score another 20 before the season ends but is there a bit of truth in what he says?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 224 ✭✭Bluebb993

Don't really agree with his point that he's more suited to a counter attacking team and city was the wrong option. All the top teams where he could have went to, Madrid, barca, psg, United all dominate the ball. He looked isolated today because nobody tried to feed him the passes. Bernardo, Rodri, Lewis, walker, arnt those type of players. KDB hasn't been in great form all year but still has 11 assists.

On another topic, what is going on with foden since World Cup? Pep saying fitness but reading between the lines and some rumours that he's in the naughty books.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

This is it exactly. He’s not a tactical genius, gets every opportunity possible and meets the targets he should meet at the clubs he’s managed. If he wins nothing this season he should be hammered for such a failure because every other manager would get pummelled if they had the city squad , got Haaland among other players to make him stronger and got worse!

There really is no objective reviews of pep. He should be winning the league every year with city resources. He should be winning the champions league several times in the last 10 years at Bayern and city.

High expectations.? Yes because he has the best resources to reach these goals. No other manager has entire clubs built around them. In many ways he’s done no more then you could reasonably expect a manager with the backing he’s gotten. Loads of medals, but it’s like an average player winning loads of medals on a world class team, they can’t but win stuff.

He gets a free ride with his antics aswell, passive aggressive sh*t and his players seems to be allowed to do all sorts of crap that other teams (United anyways) get pulled up and made examples of.

Just like Batman said about the daily planet always writing puff pieces about superman , the same applies to all media and pundits to pep. He can do no wrong and nobody really analyses his achievements proportionate to the resources he’s had and the clubs he’s managed. He’s not doing anything he shouldn’t be doing at these clubs. In fact he’s not winning the CL which was the primary goal of both clubs in signing him.

Unless he wins a few more Champions Leagues there will always be a few question marks for me. He had Messi and one of the best squads ever at Barca. He has arguably underachieved since then, particularly when he took over that Bayern squad.

so apparently city have been charged by the premier league for FFP breaches:

Man City finally charged by the Premier League. Huge number of alleged breaches. My report last year examined the many links between the club’s ownership and its sponsors…

I really hope the charges stick this time. They were dead to rights when UEFA charged them but got off due to statute of limitations.

Everything they have won since being taken over by that crowd is tainted and always has been. Only thing I'll say is that it's a bit late/rich from the premier league. Both City and Newcastle takeovers should never have been allowed to happen.

I'm a United fan but give me Liverpool or Arsenal winning over those two any day.
