So there's going to be a narrow window to pick up used Model 3s in line with Feb/March arrivals. Given the low ball offers many will simply not be bothered to move from the 3 to a Y (me) as it's just not worth it so the flood of used 3's to the market may not be at the level anticipated...or they might, who knows

I think the M3 will be a different side of things. Most will be going for MY over M3, as its such tight price difference. So Tesla will have even more new stock as well as their current used stock. Obviously tesla don't want the used market to really crash, because that will dampen sales on new ones, but thats where the MY because their main focus point, as there simply won't be that many on the market as used, so new will bring in the sales.

So many jumping to MY will definitely put a lot of M3 on the market since their getting large discounts on the MY. I cant imagine pricing on M3 bouncing back if the wait time is just September. The grant may decrease, or may simply get pushed out (more likely). Ireland still needs increase EV adoption overall.

Sure only time will tell, a lot of folk prefer the 3 over the Y for various ascetic and range reasons, there's a big jump from best Y (WLTP) range of 565kms to 626kms on the 3, tow hitch easier to get onto the Y, Y bigger which is both a + and -, 3 smaller which is both a + and -.

    Fun times

I'm one of those. If the 3 had a hatchback it would be perfect but I'm fine with the compromise of the boot vs a much larger and awkward looking car in the Y. Wife was interested in the Y but I said no. 😅

The practicality of the Y makes alot of sense but every time I'd see a Model 3 I'd know that's the one I should have got, would be like marrying a women I'm not attracted to if that makes sense. Having said that if I have more kids or when they get older the Y would make even more sense so could be a follow on car.

Tesla are buying and selling used Tesla's in all markets and appear to offer reasonable trade-in values elsewhere for stock they are happy to trade. I'd be thinking they would be offering at least 10k more and selling your car for about 41k/42k. Must be down to how the Irish operation is being run

I had a quote from Tesla for my blue, white interior with 19 in wheels of €29,400. Bought in September and has 10,000kms on the clock. They don't seem to be too generous even with Tesla trade ins!

I was thinking the same. Worst case scenario is grant will taper off and 2022 M3s will still be worth around 40k in 18-24 months time. New models will get closer to the 50k mark because the lack of grant.

Then again, Musk could have a scheming plan and decide to cut the price by whatever the grant would have given.

That is shockingly poor from Tesla tbh. I'm a Sep22 on 18s but less mileage, so would probably get same offer. Just as well I'm still delighted with the M3. Would prefer it was a hatch and had a little extra leg room in the back, but for me, they are the only trade-offs for what is a better looking, more efficient car compared to the MY.

Pretty much snap from me with March22 RWD build, the Y looks quite bloaty to me and then there's the ~10% efficiency. I'd only go from a 3RWD to preferably a 3LR (but price difference is very hard to justify for audio/speed/range) or a YLR but they are only available in white and that's not a colour I want to be maintaining, the wife's car is white and a nightmare the coldest 6 months of the year.

    I don't see a 3RWD to a YRWD as an "upgrade"

I had to give my white Model 3 a sympathy wash yesterday for my visit to the SC today……

it was probably the dirtiest it’s ever been!!

Keep in mind Tesla are still seeking 44K for a 2020 SRplus with over 41,000 km.

Either they haven't a clue or don't give a sh1t how to keep existing customers or run a car business.

This is only because they haven’t got round to slashing inventory prices yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 192 ✭✭Jog501

Those prices won't last much longer, from what I've read they usually update them from the Netherlands team once a quarter. The UK is done internally and their prices are already around 30k for 2019 models.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 451 ✭✭Gile_na_gile

Not slashing, but they have started deducting bits here and there since the 17th Jan on some of them including this morning. That one is now 43600. Overpriced but going the right way.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,322 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Perhaps they're going to do nothing, once the Feb/March deliveries are over all Model 3 used prices will go up again due to lack of supply and Tesla will raise prices. Right now they have 2 orders in for every 1 car they can make.

Well, many of them are cheaper by 1k EUR since yesterday so they are going on the usual gradual deductions pattern, probably reaching lowest point when those ships come in with hundreds if not more M3 and MY vehicles.

I'd say that for the second-hand inventory cars, Tesla won't change much until after the new stock coming in for Q1 is shifted (and they may have more second hand cars to deal with then). Then, in Q2 they'll adjust those prices to be more realistic against the current new price and they'll sell those ones in Q2 to people not willing to wait until Sept for a new one.

As for me, I'm glad that I love driving the car, will be keeping it going for a few years and wasn't looking to flip it for a profit.

I misread and thought you gave it a clean before going to the SuC - that would be dedication 😁

Would they not give it a bit of a clean at the SC after the service activity is complete?

I agree with the Fingleberries' general view that if the 3 is the right car for you now is time to sit tight and enjoy the driving experience. We all can now be slightly less precious about them and think of our cars as a car and not as an investment opportunity.

Just for arguments sake lets say a 2022 M3RWD is worth €40k, this will increase by a few k in April for sure but by then too late for those wanting to make the Y switch

Let someone in a garage man handle the car with a brush or sponge /trigger alert central/.

Whenever any car from our house goes to a garage there is an A4 print on the dash NOT to clean inside or out

    Ordered a LR M3 tonight ... 🤞for March delivery or I I'll cancel.

My finger hovers over a blue 3LR every day but just can't justify it, cost to change from a RWD just not financially right.

As I've said loads of times, if you're coming from a banger this is perfect

Does the sat nav use Google maps?

Yes, it's Tesla's own UI using Google maps. However I don't always find the direction results the same between using "pure" GM Vs using the Tesla one.

You set the map to re-route to save x number of minutes. I set mine to 5 minutes. No point re-routing for less of a saving on the average commute IMO. I have found the times of arrival to be as accurate as the regular GM, but I have on a couple of occasions found that re-routing myself, the map recalculates and has predicted greater than a 5 minute saving. It needs a little tweaking there I think.
