You couldn't make this stuff up. "Ireland Against Fascism" says forcing people of different nationalities and religions to share spaces is "not safe" and "when they mix, clashes happen". Perhaps we should give people spaces of their own. We'll call them "countries".

The Marist land at Dundrum Road is perhaps only a "temporary" fix. However it is in a non working class area of Dublin. It's a start I suppose. Next they might take over the CMH if and when Portrane is up and running. Same area. Slowly slowly. But notice that the local schools in Dundrum/Milltown are not affected. Bussing back to Basin Lane is the solution.

Not necessarily. Lots of public order offences and clashes or violent punch ups between two groups of people don't get reported by the national media. It would very much depend on the context, level of violence, number of arrests etc. This type of thing happens across the country a lot more than people realise, especially among groups of young men.

The Department said International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) inspectors visited Mount St Mary’s on foot of a report on RTÉ News that there is no heating in the building, with just one toilet, one working shower and one small kitchenette

The accommodation consists of 10 en-suite rooms upstairs, with three beds in each; and downstairs are pods to cater for different family sizes.

Inspectors found there were radiators in all rooms, timed to come on from 6am to 9am, and then from 1pm-4pm and finally from 7pm-10pm. There were 24 toilets which are either private to a single family, or segregated between men and women, along with seven showers.

Catering is provided by a professional catering company. The Department said a pot shown on screen in the RTÉ report belongs to one of the residents, as food is not served by the catering company in this fashion.

I noticed a senator posting on social media a while back about how these asylum seekers are deeply vetted before being allowed into the country,

So I asked how are they vetted if they are arriving on flights on a daily basis and then destroying their documents, same reply they are vetted, but if you don't know who they are and where they are actually from, how do you vett them ,

The reply came in the form of a post about they won't deal with racists and if your blocked it's because of racist behavior.

    I was blocked

Every elected representative seems to be in lockstep on this issue no matter which party they belong to, truly frightening state of affairs.

Considering 90% of people are dissatisfied with the government’s immigration policy, it stands to reason that in a normal democratic society the politicians who were elected to represent their constituents would speak out against the matter? Unless they don’t represent the interests of their own citizens and are promoting the interests of other organisations on the global stage? That’s the conclusion I’m starting to come to.

It's the second time in a matter of weeks where refugee violence has resulted in hospitalizations, thus putting further pressure on an already strained health system. Increasingly, the "refugee service" is in the absurd position of having to shift guys around to different places to prevent further brawls and stabbings. We're told we must celebrate this "diversity."

With no further spaces, ROG said last week he'd still let people in, but they'd have to fend for themselves. (Yet he would give them food vouchers.) It's a horrifying thought how the thugs in these videos would fend for themselves.

How can RTE stand up to say it's transparent, an idiot can see there's filtering and lack of reporting of news to suit an agenda in the organisation.

There’s loads of topics the same in fairness:

    abortion

    gay marriage

full suppport for the war in Ukraine

    covid restrictions

its just bad press to stand against the perceived most popular answer. Not to mention all kept in check with by the whip.

    faux democracy.

The amateur who's controlling that twitter page wants religious segregation.

I suspect that post will get deleted.

I presume her children didn’t destroy their passports on the way into Canada or Australia or wherever, because they would be back home with mammy if they did.

And 100s of 1000s of new arrivals with no connection to Ireland will vote no to a United Ireland if it means any threat to their standard of living.

I see RTE have a story finally and state that three suffered "minor injuries" after a "disturbance"

They also noted that the facility originally had 370 there but now has 800 and 18 showers.

Why they have included facts that are not related to the "incident" seems bizarre.

I hate to be a party pooper, but the aggro in the two videos that have been published looks like 'handbags at five paces' stuff....a small number of people chucking a few chairs at each other. We've seen far worse violence at League of Ireland grounds in the last few years. It's hardly a surprise that the national media haven't even bothered to report it.

Not that long ago RTE had a 4 minute piece on Six One and again at 9 O’ Clock, about a dog attacking sheep.

But a mini riot at an overcrowded asylum centre, at a time when everyone in the country is talking about immigration, isn’t newsworthy?

Ah here, c'mon - there's been extensive reporting on the right wing protests outside the accommodation centres. There has been extensive reporting when those being accommodated are moved to a new location. In fact there has been lots of reporting around the whole accommodation situation, due to the huge strain it's under.

Therefore a large brawl at a major transit centre ought to be a main story.

They've been able to dedicate acres of coverage to that gobshite and his crusade against Wilsons, they should be able to cover an actual story properly.

Chairs thrown at each other in a large residential building, no arrests and three people taken to hospital with 'minor injuries' : how on earth would that be a headline story for the national media? There are people arriving into A & E every night of the week with injuries they have picked up in fights and assaults.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,147 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

It’s literally a racist hate crime. Two ethnicities fighting each other because of their ethic background.

Hate crimes are normally front page news.

RTE 'have' reported the incident btw, but it sounds like it was a relatively small scale disturbance involving a number of people - three people taken to hospital with minor injuries and no arrests.

a dog attacking sheep would be thousands of euro lost to that farmer, just googled it and that report was probably about 50 sheep dead, another 20+ had to be put down, €12,000 loss... to one family.

Plenty of reports of US troubles on RTE, reports at 4am, normally the Oirish news stops at 10pm no matter what, complete crooked corrupt organisation unfit for purpose in bed with who knows while charging each home €160 a year to receive such filtered garbage.

Good to see people copping on with RTE

I saw the biased reporting during Covid & same thing here with refugees.

Propaganda Joseph Goebbels would be proud of.

You could come back to Ireland in a million years, when there isn't a Catholic left, and these types would still be blaming the ghost of Catholicism for everything.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
