Insurance quotes are very client specific..but there are many Insurers that offer competitive quotes 123.ie was extremely competitive for me ,,lower than my ICE car

Going from a 2015 Kia Sportage to a RWD 3 my insurance went down a good bit. I found Supervalu of all places to give me the best quote after being with 123 for years.

My insurance went down when I went from ICE (Honda Civic 182bhp) to VW ID.3. Stayed same when changed to Model 3.

I had to shop around quite a bit, because some insurers were having a laugh (from paying €550 on an Auris I was driving, one insurer quoted me €1,650 after discounts).

Eventually went with AXA through the AA for sub €500.

Shop around for sure. I got fleeced with the AA when I went from a Tuscon to a m3, policy went up another 500 to circa 850ish.

I did some research and then got a new policy for 320, slghtly cheaper than my old car by kicking up a fuss about them fleecing customers.

Is that comprehensive insurance, and if you don't mind me asking, how many years of no claim, etc.? Just to get some sense of all these under 500e quotes. :)

Yes, fully comp, bonus protected. 9yrs plus of no claims.

Wrong side of 40 so that likely helps too.

My insurance renewal on my ID3 came in the same as last year, €310. That's the minimum that Aviva charge you. I phoned them a few weeks ago asking about insuring a MY and they said that because I'm an existing customer, they would do it. (Cleared through the underwriting dept. first.) Renewing before the Tesla is due aswell.

Didn't even bother shopping around apart from Chill, who came back with 382 as the minimum with the cheapest company. Some crazy variations depending on the insurer.

You have to shop around. No quick fix.

I was paying €236 on a Model S Performance (762bhp) with ludicrous. That jumped to €396 for a Model 3 Performance!

Hi All, has anyone got a delivery date yet for an M3 recently ordered? Mine is saying Feb 24 to Mar 12, but The guy in the Cork Tesla store said Sep. This will kill the Grant if it is reduced or removed in July.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,941 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Everyone has the same range as yourself.

No new cars have been assigned and thus, no delivery dates set.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭jmpie

Ok I see, so is it likely that we won't get the cars until Sep so? or could they be delivered by March I'm not familiar with the Tesla delivery process and if they are prone to change dates etc.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,941 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

They are on the way on a boat. You get an exact delivery date once a car has been assigned to you. Usually when the boat passes though the Suez Canal.

Thanks for the info, so do they order batches of cars rather than just cars people have ordered and use them to fill orders they get after the ship has left?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,941 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

That’s it exactly. Tesla don’t build “your” car like other manufacturers. They ship multiple versions and configurations.

Im pretty sure you will get one in Q1. There will be loads of cancellations, guaranteed!

Test driving a M3 today for the first time, should be interesting to see what all the fuss is about!

I've got an email recently from a tesla advisor re my order (placed in oct or nov last year). It also says Feb 24 Mar 12, he was asking whether I was proceeding with the order. Hopefully that means they are expecting new cars and assigning them.

Format of the USB via the menu fixed it - I'll pick up a decent passport drive as I'd be gutted to get a car door in the side and miss it due to this.

Got my MSM (grey!) Model 3 RWD back in September, and now I see that I could have paid about €8k less if I ordered today 🙄

At the time, I really wanted a red one, but it was beyond the grant threshold and therefore way beyond my budget.

I know the trade-in value of my car has gone through the floor, but if the cost to change wasn't too much, I'd upgrade to a new one in red.

Has anyone here looked into this? Will Tesla give a decent trade-in value* that they will stand over when the final payment comes due?

*I know they just go with low-ball trade quotes usually, but my question concerns whether there a difference if it's a Tesla you're trading in.

I'm in the same boat, couldn't justify the extra for the LR in September but will hang on for my next change as the cost to change isn't worth it for me

Edit: I think my quote was misread from somewhere else

I have a feeling a lot of owners here won't want to answer this question, but realistically . I'm in the market for a 2021LR. What is a solid price assuming between 20-40k kms. Mainly comes down to heatpump/powered trunk, nicer trim (not a fan of chrome). So lets compare to what would a 2020LR with similar mileage be worth.

Dealer mentioned they sold a white LR 2021 for 51250 today and I simply can't believe someone dropped that much on a car 2 year old car when a new one is nearly the same price.

Unfortunately got stuck in a lot of traffic on the test drive. Despite that I was impressed, the acceleration is something else even in the RWD. If I'm ordering it would be white, standard wheels & dark interior. Rep did say that new orders will be September at the earliest unfortunately. I may still order it and then cancel later if it doesn't make the grant.

Yeah really felt like they just wanted to try and convince me their still going for 50+. Just reeks of desperation.

Either way, I'm glad I'm finally in a position to buy my first Tesla. Have wanted one for years. Just trying to decide which is the best one to go for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,760 ✭✭✭✭josip

Definitely go ahead and order. There will be a good few cancellations from the 2022 RWD orders, between buyers switching to LR, the sums no longer adding up with a lower trade in value or reluctance to take a car without USS.

    This.

order away and I bet OP would be in it by end of March…

sure I’ve a White RWD with standard wheels and black interior on order since last year…. I had it paused as when I ordered it said Q1/Q2 2023 which I was fine with, but then a car was available within weeks…, as I mainly only ordered to guard against another price increase which was thought was coming… and at the time they were offering me €44k for my 2020 SR+!!! Which was bonkers money so I said I’d upgrade, but had too much on to switch last year, so was happy to wait til this year… but alas now it not the time to be trading in to Tesla, so I’m happy to keep what I have for the foreseeable future..

They texted me about an hour ago asking if I wanted the car or not… and if not they’ll cancel the order….. so that’s a base spec Model 3 on the ship that will be given to someone who was told September…. And I bet it won’t be the only one…

The cars on the ship get assigned while it’s on route…. And there’s a lot of cars on the ship… they also hold a good few back from being assigned to gradually release them on the website as inventory stock (meaning accelerated delivery). This is to try and entice impulse buyers… but as the ships get closer to Europe, and if inventory sales are slow, they gradually start assigning these ‘spare’ cars to firm orders… and suddenly a lot of people get bumped up the list.

When ordering there's a box there for wall charger, do I need to tick that or do I sort the home charger separately?
