Hello, I am in my early 40's and considering a career change. As I have about another 25 years left in my working life I want to do something I will enjoy and after a lot of consideration I have decided on dog grooming. Looking for advice on where to start and what to avoid to make this a reality. The plan would be to eventually set up my own business and be my own boss

Start with the basics. How much will it cost you to set-up? Insurance costs? Location and costs of rent?

There are grants and help to start up a business if you are unemployed

See if you can train under an experienced and renowned dog groomer- it might help you establish your business when you go solo - there’s an awful lot of bad dog groomers out there so you need to distinguish yourself with the right qualifications and experience - best of luck

In the last recession dog grooming parlours were the first businesses to go.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.
